This. I hate anytime, but at least I know I can walk into every one and it will have the stuff I need to do a workout. Honestly the best gyms are the ones owned by locals. The problem Is that most aren't 24 hours and close around 10.

Mine has squat racks/bench presses but they are the smith machine ones. So, you can squat but you're not using all the stabilizing muscles. It's not horrible.

Yeah, you can't find a better one for the price, imo.

There's an Anytime Fitness near me but it's small. Sure, it has the traditional weights, but there is maybe two squat racks, one bench press, and only one pullup station. And they charge 40 bucks a month.

My Planet Fitness has 3 pullup stations. It's pretty awesome.

Planet Fitness is obviously not the best place for hardcore lifting but it is great for the price. Any person regardless of their fitness level can get a great workout there. To imply otherwise is comical.

Squatting with the smith machine is horrible.

Its not good for multiple reasons.

You can do lunges, bulgarian split squats, goblet squats, dumbell stiff legged deads, leg press, etc

This is pretty much what I wanted to know.

The rest involves you seeing into the future and whether the clientele of that location will be trashy or not. I think odds are even money. But with no contract, no care. I will just cancel.

Tell me.

For leg day, I do my stiffleg deadlifts, dumbell squats, bulgarian squats, goblet squats, step up reverse lunges, and other things.

Then, I move on to the machines and just go to failure on 3 sets.

I think I get a great workout.

The ot does not think you can get a good workout without doing barbell squats and deadlifts.

as much as I love squats and deadlifts and believe you should form a good foundation using them, they honestly are not right for most peoples goals.

Most people want to look like Ryan Reynolds or Brad Pitt in troy. They don't want legs that rub together or a big arse. They want a nice tear drop and big calves. And honestly that's what most girls are looking for also.

If that is your goal then bodyweight pistol squats, bulgarian split squats or overhead walking lunge, stiff leg dead lifts or glute ham raise and an arse ton of calf work is what you should be focused on. DO that and get strong as frick on overhead barbell press, incline press and weighted pullups and you are on your way to the greek god body type with solid nutrition.

it fricking pains me to write that btw but its the truth. and for 95% of lifters planet fitness is fine for them. I know a few actual competing bodybuilders that use the one here in Lake Charles as their base gym. Sure they go to other gyms from time to time but mostly workout at PF and they are not small by any means.

its all about goals.

weighted pullups

Did those last night. 4 sets of 8 with a 30 pound kettlebell. Same with chinups.

Then, I take the bell off and just go to failure on each.

Pf is what it is. I have my bad arse home gym that i use but i am about to join the of right by my work just for lunch time cardio.

I feel like a pussy saying that, but at 10 dollars a month and easy access i cant pass it up.

PF is fine for most people to get a good workout. You won't be able to do powerlifting or strongman type stuff, but if that's your goal then you probably won't look at PF as an option anyhow.

I honestly don't have one. I can do more but I do it at the beginning of the workout and I don't want to get gassed before I do other stuff.

My USUAL routine is 20 pounds, wide grips, 6 seconds up, 6 seconds down, 3 sets of 10.

As long as I fail, I really don't care. I guess I should set a goal. I DO wonder how much weight I can max on it.
