About to be 43, so I am being melodramatic.

You're still young

I'd say 50 is when one should not lift as heavy anymore

It's a cheap place to get a workout. They don't have a ton of free weights, but enough that it will get the job done. A lot of people bash it, but with a little creativity you can get a good workout cheap there. The machines are usually kept up very well, there's usually no idiots grunting/being annoying, but there are usually a TON of people.

Try it out and let us know. I work on I10/Barker Cypress and been looking for somewhere closer to my office. Working out at LA Fitness in Sugar Land now.

I'm not expecting much. But being brand new I am expecting clean.

Would like a little eye candy, but I doubt it. I expect a herd of Mexican women going near 2 bills each. Hopefully with such low expectations I can be pleased.

When I think of Planet Fitness, I think of Average Joes from dodge ball. It seems like the try too hard to cater to the average out of shape American and tend to shame in shape people.

Google lunk alarm and you'll see what I mean.

It is a cheap option though

No, they really do have pizza on Tuesdays. They also serve donuts some days if I'm not mistaken.

It's cheap, but not necessarily in a bad way. It can get really busy in the afternoon. I usually go around 6 am, but I went after work one day and I couldn't get a treadmill or any free weights.

They go up to 90 I think. I don't go up that far. I just pick a decent weight and do it eccentrically, just getting the full range of motion. Then, I go to the machines and I'll do a couple of sets to failure. It is a great workout.

Dude, my location has this wicked pullup/monkey bar cage and you can attach kettle bells and plates to belts.

It's the best Planet Fitness I've seen. It has med balls, stability balls, all kinds of stuff.

Its not exactly 'no contract' based on their site and what they told me when I went last week.

Basically, 49.99 startup, 39 annual fee, and then 15/month for no commitment.

To get 10/month, you have those same startup and annual fees, plus a 12 month commitment.

Still relatively cheap, but not quite as cheap as they like to market.

One hospital I worked at always had "ice cream socials" to discuss and educate on Diabetes though.

You can get big without lifting heavy.

Your muscles don't care how much weight you're doing.
