I've used Heat Guard before. It's slow release tablet and have had good experiences with that. Got a bunch of samples at an event and tried them. I like them a lot.

People here are wimps. Just take a couple days off and see if it gets better with rest. If after a week it still hurts then see a doctor. Maybe ice and stretch it this week too. You'll be aight.

I can't believe people are freaking out about someone running 35-40 miles a week.

I dont think anyone is freaking out. Some have said they do not think running that much is neccesary. Others have said to back off a bit until he heals. I personally dont understand why someone would run that much unless they just enjoy the act of running. It really isnt a very effective form of cardio.

Does anybody use Succeed S Caps? I sweat a lot, so, I usually take 1 or 2 salt tablets before a long run. Are the S Caps better?

If you are running 6-7 days a week I suggest going a maximum of 3 miles a day. I can't imagine running 5 straight days for 8 miles.

S Caps, Enduralytes and Salt Sticks have all been recommended to me ... I think the Salt Sticks had most sodium out of the 3. Thinking I'll try that.

Read an article talking about cramping (mainly calf/quad) and those who took pickle juice or salt got relief within about 90 seconds ... my last half I ran by an aide station and asked if they had any salt. I didn't plan to ask that question -- it just kind of tumbled out. They didn't have any but in retrospect I'm guessing my body kind of knew what it needed.

When I'm done after ANY distance, I taste like a freaking potato chip. Ewww ...

(I also started using NUUN for hydration the day before long runs and after a long run ... it wasn't that great until I started adding a crystal lite type flavor packet to it ... pink lemonade is good and it's got more sodium than other things like Cytomax and Skratch)

Are you still losing weight? You really do not need that much cardio.

how often do you do a rest week? serious

that is a serious load you are doing and it would be really beneficial for you to do a rest week about every 6 weeks IMO

I think you should look for more quality and less quantity.

Unless you just enjoy the extra hours of training, by mixing the paces and goals of your types of runs and other activities you can get better results in less time.

Two men were given an axe and sent to the top of a mountain with the goal is chopping down 1 tree exactly the same size with the winner being determined simply by who chopped it down the fastest. The first guy just went to work, chopping and chopping. Over and over again. A nice steady continual stroke taking out chunk after chunk. Through his efforts he noticed his competition sitting down taking a break every few minutes and he knew if he didn't take a break, he would win in a landslide....just don't empty the tank. Well, just as the first guy (constant chopper) was starting to see the end getting near, his competition shouted, "done.....TIMBER!!!!!" He couldn't believe he lost...he never took a break, never stopped and just kept it nice and steady the entire time. Afterwards when he asked the winner how he won while taking so many breaks the winner said, "I wasn't taking a break. I was sharpening my axe."

For the past two weeks I've developed this pain high up on my hamstring on the bottom of my glut muscle Hurts like a bitch and its a dull ache. Hurts when I sit for a while and take a shite

Could be a hip issue. As much as you're running, which is too much for your body to sustain, it might be worth seeing a hip specialist and get an xray and/or MRI. Your femur head may have thrown in the towel.

ETA: Try swimming laps instead of so much impact cardio.
