Pretty moderate runner. Run 6-7 days a week anywhere from 4-8 miles per run

For the past two weeks I've developed this pain high up on my hamstring on the bottom of my glut muscle

Hurts like a bitch and its a dull ache. Hurts when I sit for a while and take a shite

Any ideas? Thought it was a strained hammy but this feels different.

That's a lot of miles. Better hope it's not labrum related.

Stop running so much and give your body some rest and recovery.

as noted, this isn't really moderate and isn't really good for you.

Guys run every day there whole lives.

People run marathons every week

I lost 60 lbs and have kept it off by running. Don't plan to gain any back

Could be a tweak or something like high hamstring tendinopathy. Rest & roll for a few days and see if responds to that.

Lol @ all the people in this thread that are scared of running

No shite

I'm healthy and do it every day and its not uncommon. Serious runners laugh at my stats

I know many people that log 50 or more miles a week and are past 50 years old.

OK but running everyday is fricking stupid. You have to give your body time to rest

Does it feel more in the bottom of your butt cheek and only on one side?

I had something similar a few weeks ago. Didn't feel like a tear but more like a hole in the connection between my hamstring and glute.

It didn't hurt that bad unless I really pushed a run. I do sprints, and going full speed was killer. I think I injured myself by running to the gym and back on leg day. Did deadlifts that day and ran home like an idiot.

I just rested for a full week - no running or leg workouts and very little walking. Full recovery.

not only that, but OP probably needs to alter diet a bit if he requires that much running to keep off the weight. also, body gets used to repetitive exercise like that. introducing muscle confusion, interval training, plyometrics, strength training, other cardio (swimming, cycle, etc), and fun outdoor stuff (paddle, climb, backpack, ski) is a lot smarter than running your body ragged with repetitive stress, and better for keeping off weight.

OP will gain his weight back when he's on the shelf. Run 5 days a week for a year. Then maybe think about 6 days a week. Maybe.

You don't know anyone who runs 7 days a week. True story. You're running too much.

If you're running that much on pavement you're gonna end up feeling it at some point not matter how in shape you are. Find other cardio a couple days a week that's less impact. And rest every now and then, listen to your body.

Meh... I run a lot and ran 8 miles this morning @ 7:30 pace. Not exactly world beater but I definitely can't run 7 days a week.

And again, if OP lost 60 pounds, he's not and never was a small guy. So he's not Ryan Hall, even though he apparently knows him.
