I hate HOAs more than most

I hate overzealous HOA board members and people who power trip but I think HOAs can be necessary to keep nice neighborhoods in order and prevent trashiness. People who actually have stuff going for them in the real world don’t act like clowns on their HOA board, or make a big deal out of lowering the neighborhood speed limit by 5 mph.

I understand how you feel. Every house I’ve purchased either had woods or waters behind it. I would be upset also.

Uh, your view is of pine trees They could put up a fence made of puke covered polka dot cardboard and it would be an improvement.

As mentioned before, the woods are not deep and the way the surrounding land is set up there is no way anything would be developed in that space. It would be something that had to be shoe horned into a tight space with a wonky access road.

I’ve seen neighborhoods shoe-horned by shitty developers up here in Ky in space you didn’t think they could build.

Have you asked the HOA why they’re putting the fence in?

So you're bringing THEIR property values down, poor. They should've formed an HOA.

You shouldn't drink so early in the morning.

Just get them to build your portion of the perimeter fence across your front yard.

What kind of barrier fence are they proposing?

Depending on where the property lines are in relation to that tree line, you can probably find a compromise.

If they're willing to switch to a wrought iron or something like that, you'd get the best of both worlds because they'd get the barrier and your view would be minimally obstructed.

I'm so glad I don't have to deal with HOAs.

Yeah, I generally feel the same way, but even when you're surrounded by people with money you still get some of them doing dumb or inconsiderate things.

I lean towards very little regulation here, but still some level of regulation. I certainly don't think an HOA should be able to decide that one must build a fence on their property.

Do what everyone else does. Insist that the hoa is racist, that this is a racially motivated ploy, gather your oppressed brethren and sistren, and decide on a hashtag.

I wouldn't be terribly opposed to a wrought iron fence. The shite thing is no one knows anything about this fence. The memo everyone got simply said dues are going up for a perimeter fence. No mention of the fences height, what it will enclose, what material etc.

Yeah, until someone with new money moves in and paints their house purple.

Money doesn’t equate to class or taste.

I think that a nice rustic wooden fence like this might look nice.

There wasn’t a vote for the fence?

This was never voted on by anyone in the neighborhood. It was just presented without explanation, and an asterisk that said that the HOA has the authority to raise dues by 6% without a vote. That may be the case, but I feel like a vote is needed to start building shite that encloses people's property
