Crockett and Jones

My dad still wears 2 pairs of Crockett and Jones that he bought when we lived in Scotland 25 years ago. He said if he ever needs to replace them, he'll fly to their store in New York just to buy another pair.

Carmina,Crockett & Jones, Lobb, Church's, Edward Green.....

In that price range (which absolutely does matter when someone starts a thread like this) Carmina kills Alden just on lasts alone, and that's just the start. I have a few pairs of Alden that I like, but they definitely aren't the best ever.

The list could go on forever. Like I said, Alden has a lot of good choices, and I'm very loyal to the Alden Indy, but a not of their lasts are not what one would call modern or sleek and are a bit chunkier than they have to be. I like the quality of their shell. If I'm in the $550-600 range though, I'm going Carmina.

I own 3 pair and love them, even after a long night they seem to survive and send them to Darensbourg every 6 months for clean and protect for $7 a pair

2 driving shoes and 1 dress shoe

They used to be decent, but they went to crap.

After cruising the AE sale, this pair of Cordovan Strands is calling my name...

AE's?

Oh, and OP, whatever you get, you need to put shoe trees in them right after you take them off. It's the most important part of keeping them looking good. $20 well spent.

I teach and am on my feet several hours a day.
How are they on the feet?
Those boots look pretty comfortable.

Cole Haan is so-so on a good day. Allen Edmonds is arguably the best US shoemaker and they're having a big sale at the moment, you might find something that fits your budget.

The best shoes I ever had were by Bruno Magli, but that will blow just a tad past your budget. Top-notch though.

Allen Edmonds. Expensive, but the most durable I've worn. Check the website for deals. I paid 300 a pair seven years ago, and they look like new.

Bought these AE's two days ago. On sale for like $325. Really like the way they look. Got them in Walnut. Will use them for business casual and more casual suits.

I did scuff them on my plane ride though . Totally my fault, but sucks to do it that quickly. Will be going to a shoe polisher soon to get that worked out.
