It's not about how much you can bench or how fast you can run, but how you can handle yourself continuously both physically and mentally.

At 24 I got the EFMB and then at 31 I got the German Sports Badge. I stayed in shape all of those early years before I jacked up my knee and neck in Iraq in 2004. Now the only PT I can do is swim on the APFT.

For the non-Army guys, I was a stud when I was young now I am broke.

Mott consider going to a private clinic and they'll give you uhhhh better products to push your test up through the roof.

What I do to make sure I hit the gym is track every workout and if I miss one I owe my buddy 100 bucks and he the same. It's not a lot of money to miss one but it adds up real quick

I would gladly do it for you, Marine. If there is any wood preference now would be the time to tell me, unlike a portly Houston poster that likes the Rice Owls.

At 35, three years ago, I got down to 297, benching 375, could run a 5.0 flat 40.

Now my shoulders can't handle that much weight and I've my work cut out to get back under 300. Goal weight is 255.

After basic training at the Air Force academy, I was 6'4" 220 lbs and ripped. Best shape of my life.

At my peak I never had much upper body strength. I lifted in HS (football) and college but pound for pound was weaker than the average athlete probably. But I could run.

I was a really solid cyclist and trail runner. I did a couple of dozen century rides when I lived in Colorado and multiple 14ers as well. I also did a ten day bike tour of South Korea in 1993 and Ride The Rockies in 1996. That was brutal. I could go for days and hiked 4/5 a week for 15 years. Mrs Pimp was a trail running bad arse too although you'd never know by looking at her.

The problem was that all that (especially the trail running) took a toll and really did a job on my back. Between the sciatica and the disc issues and general stiffness II have had to scale it way back in the last five years. Now at fifty, I'm literally limited to walking. So I do that like a madman. 35 miles a week minimum. But that's all I can really do. I sure do miss the way I was. I probably peaked at age 28. I could fly at 28. At 50, honestly I just feel depressed about how I feel. Enjoy it why you have it.

Was 5'11 and 175#'s when I graduated HS....will be 47 this summer and weigh 180#'s. was a 300 PFT'er all 6 years I was in the Marine Reserves. Got back into running in my late 20's to mid 30's and consistently ran low 19min 5k's and high 38min 10k's. Did some sprint tri's and usually averaged 23-24mph on the bike and could run a sub 21min 5k to finish the race....that damn swimming part would eat my lunch.

The most I ever benched was 295#'s weighing around 175...always wanted to get to 315#'s....never got there. Had my saphenous vein lasered shut back in '09 and was told my running days were over. Picked up golf and that's now become my main hobby. Still lift 4-5 days/week.......low weight/high reps.

I was texting one of my X's Sunday and she reminded me of those 2 hour sex romps we had back in the 90's.

Wish I could still pull that shite off

Best military days....

Best PT test:
Ran 2 miles in 10:21
122 pushups in 2 minutes
130 situps in 2 minutes

In Iraq, I boxed and got into heavier lifting. Max bench was 335.

Got chubby and weak for a few years after leaving military.

Now age 42. I'm benching 300+ again. Lift 4 x weekly at 5:30 am. Feeling pretty good about where I am fitness-wise.

You gotta just make the time to reach your fitness goals.

I was going to say when I got my short tab upon graduation from Ranger School but I probably peaked a year later upon graduation from the old 82nd Recondo School at Bragg. I was bullet proof back in those days.

You think the running and bike positioning is definitely the cause of your back issues/pains?

Reason I ask is I know a lot of sedentary people who end up with the same ailments at that age (my mom for example).

Over the last few years I've gotten into cycling and running. I've had some running injuries, but nothing chronic, and certainly nothing to scare me away from it.
