Maybe I am lazy and not creative. Is that also why you stopped doing it when it was working for you?

Did it for a few weeks in high school. I was exhausted all the time.

Nope, I was just doing it for a defined period of time and felt like I had lost enough weight. Like I said I never went full throttle with it and still eat pretty clean. I'm fluctuating around 200lbs so I have lost a couple more lbs since the defined period ended.

My brother did it

He said he liked it, but its not easy and you certainly need to do a good bit of working out for it to work.

When you look at it at its core though it makes sense

Lost 60 pounds and have managed to keep it off for two years, the last year not being strict paleo at all. I'm about to become strict again to get these last 15 off and to feel great again. When I was fairly strict on paleoI had a lot of energy.

That actually sounds like a great deal for all my meals. I know I spend a hell of a lot more than that on food each week

I'm combining p90x3 with Paleo and seeing pretty good results. I've lost about 4 inches off my waist. Definitely leaning up. It's actually not that bad as far as meals goes. I don't mind cutting out dairy. Bread is probably what hits me hardest.

Why would trying it make someone an idiot? It is basically just clean eating.

I follow it and have for over a year. I am a little loose with it now. Keep it basic and don't get carried away with all the crazy arse recipes people suggest. Quality source everything you can. Say bye to bread and rice. Go easy on fruit and consume as much veggies aS you can. Try to keep them raw

Yep. I'm down 18 lbs in about 3 months, but I haven't been super strict about it.

Still drink occasionally, and I don't do the pure paleo where everything is organic, grass fed, free range, etc. I've stalled a bit, but I've started working out again to supplement it. Only have about 7 lbs to go.

There's no evidence people actually ate this way back in the day,

Link?

Here's something for those with longer attention spans (the first thing that came up regarding hunter-gatherer diets): LINK

Snip

quote:

Objective: Field studies of twentieth century hunter-gathers (HG) showed them to be generally free of the signs and symptoms of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Consequently, the characterization of HG diets may have important implications in designing therapeutic diets that reduce the risk for CVD in Westernized societies.

...we have analyzed the 13 known quantitative dietary studies of HG and demonstrate that animal food actually provided the dominant (65%) energy source, while gathered plant foods comprised the remainder (35%). This data is consistent with a more recent, comprehensive review of the entire ethnographic data ( n ¼ 229HG societies) that showed the mean subsistence dependence upon gathered plant foods was 32%, whereas it was 68% for animal foods. Other evidence, including isotopic analyses of Paleolithic hominid collagen tissue, reductions in hominid gut size, low activity levels of certain enzymes, and optimal foraging data all point toward a long history of meat-based diets in our species.

Because increasing meat consumption in Western diets is frequently associated with increased risk for CVD mortality, it is seemingly paradoxical that HG societies, who consume the majority of their energy from animal food, have been shown to be relatively free of the signs and symptoms of CVD

Paradoxical? What is the biggest difference between the S.A.D. (standard American diet) and that of our hunter gather forbears and their modern cousins?

CARBOHYDRATES. GRAINS. SUGAR. Not to mention all other harmful substances acknowledged to be in most processed foods.

Heart healthy grains is a big lie -- one of the biggest.

But whatever, eat your 4 servings of wheat a day, margarine, low fat chips, canola oil, diet soda, and continue to scoff at the 'crazy skinny people' who don't need prescription meds for blood pressure, cholesterol, GERD, and more.

'Crazy People' who choose to acknowledge reality and stop swallowing corp/gov propaganda.

Open your eyes folks. In most areas of this country, the average person is a complete lard-arse.

Even kids. Many of our younger generations are future land-whales waiting for the Type II diabeetus disability check at age 40 or something.

Why is that? (hint: in old farming texts, the optimal method for fattening hogs was to feed them corn).

Two excellent books/blogs/ and lots of youtube:

*Grain Brain - written by a Neurologist

*Wheat Belly - written by a Cardiologist

That said, it is probably best for ymost people to mock that which they do not understand because
"the regular food TASTES SO GOOD and cooking real food is JUST SO MUCH WORK and NOBODY HAS TIME FOR THAT and DANCING WITH THE STARS, plus THERE IS A NASCAR RACE ON. Now where's my pills?"

Yes, been doing it for about 4 months now. I thought it would be more difficult to stop eating flour/wheat products but there are alternatives out there to help the transition.

Sometimes I have to lick rock to get a better view of the fossil. I would never eat it though.

I'm all for Paleo at it's core, which is basically just eat meat and veggies, and keep the preparation simple

but when you get to the Paleo "cupcakes" or Paleo "gumbo" or any of that stupid shite, it becomes your next fad diet

I also have a problem with no potatoes or legumes, as I believe that if I can grow it in my garden, I should be able to eat it

You can't have potatoes or legumes in Paleo? That's a tad bit ridiculous
