re: May have to put down my dog - saltybulldog
Yes it does. Just know that being a ball bag for a few days is completely normal. When my last dog died...5 years ago, I was a wreck. My daughter and wife thought I was nuts, but that dog and I were tight. It probably took 2 years before I was ready for a new dog. Of course, having 2 kids in ...

re: Latest disturbing sex case-this time involving Houston Geologists - saltybulldog
Does it seem odd that a professional geologist, in her late 20's is getting babysitting gigs? 100% of our babysitters have either been family or a friend's daughter that is either in college or high school. ...
Wait until you goofy bastards can't walk without knee braces in your late 40s.
I know more people that do zero exercise that have the same or more problems. Same goes for long time runners. Everyone's body breaks down with age. I dont know how many times it has to be said, cro...

You could really just sum your post up by saying that untrained and unskilled trainers make poor coaches. That is true for any "program". ...

I am fairly certain many of you don't remember anything before the year 2009. If you did, you might realize that "building for the future" is all we did. While the purpose of a message board may be to give space for people to give their thoughts on a subject, too many of you are exercising that opti...

re: Do you even lift, bro? Fitness or Narcissism? - saltybulldog
In my opinion, the best view is to optimize your health. You can find plenty of information that supports lifting, in conjunction with other activities as the best way to maintain a high level of health/fitness. Obviously, there is a bit of narcissism attached to improvements in your appearanc...

re: OT runners: do you ever take an extended break? - saltybulldog
I usually just scale back volume. It's usually more mental fatigue than physical. The only time I can recall going more than a week straight without any running was during recovery from injury. My mileage is generally in the 15 to 20 miles per week range unless I'm training for a specific race. ...
Maybe the mother's working schedule isn't what is the key to those successes.
It may not be the "key" but it can be a huge variable. There are tons of examples of success/failure in both scenarios. I am more than happy to sacrifice the added income for the ability for my wife t...

re: thoughts on stay at home spouse? - saltybulldog
My wife left her job to raise our kids. We have 4. She quit work after #2. While the reduced income was tough at 1st it is worth it. The time she gets with our kids, the reduced amount of time they are sick, etc are worth it. A lot less stress in general. I would encourage it. ...
