Yup, they wanna ride bikes in a 55? They'd better be going above the minimum 40 or be ready to get a ticket.
Blocking traffic? Ticket
No turn signal? Ticket
No brake lights? Ticket
No headlights? Ticket
No brake tag? Ticket
Expired registration? Ticket
No insurance? Ticket

If you wanna sit at the grown-up table......

FWIW, you can't go slower than 15 under legally on surface roads

for the people that get angry at the cyclists, maybe y'all should be the top advocates for some cycling infrastructure?

Like I said earlier, I used to ride a minimum of two hours a day, every day. Sometimes, I'd be riding for 10 or 12. Did I ever have people honking at me or get hit? Nope. The reason is because I had more common sense and personal responsibility at 16 than these people do all grown up

My attitude was, "Watch out for cars. Don't get in their way". A lot of people on bikes think, "These cars need to watch out for me. This is my road too, so get out of my way"

It's way saFer to ride in the middle of a lane than trying to ride on the margin. A car has to deliberately decide to hit you when you take the lane. If you are on the margin or even the shoulder they will buzz by you so close it's incredibly dangerous

Not condoning the hit and run but people shouldn't be riding bikes on a busy road no matter day or time. Pisses me off when the cyclist ride on river road when there are biking lanes on top of the levee.

That's because officially (though rarely enforced) bikes are banned on top the levee.

If they were in the middle of the road, good. A bicycle is not a car, so get the hell off the road.

According to the state's DOTD, they are to be treated as a car and follow all the same rules. Riding on sidewalks is illegal. It's stupid, so you should absolutely complain to your representative to get them changed back to being treated like pedestrians.

You tried riding a road bike on the sidewalks in LA?

and then what happens when some family is taking a leisurely stroll with their kids onthe sidewalk and a group of cyclists come flying by?

cyclists certainly don't belong on sidewalks

That would be great, and I'm not even one of those angry people. I'd just like to be able to bike places and not be worried for my life.

Just ride around your neighborhood. Problem solved. Don't inconvenience countless cars by riding on busy streets.

same here

I normally either ride in my neighborhood with wide roads and low speed limits, or the bike path along the river

but the problem is in order for me to get to the bike path along the river, I have to ride about 1 mile on a 2 lane road with no shoulder that people drive about 50 mph on

that road is the only road that connects my neighborhood with the bike path

lack of infrastructure puts cyclists in bad positions sometimes

Yes, because all the places I'd like to be able to safely bike to are within my neighborhood. I wish I had realized that before!

Agreed. 99% of this world's problems would be solved if people just stayed in their own neighborhoods.
