frick the driver. It looks like the seriously injured rider is going to make it according to his FB, but he is the second friend of mine to be left for dead on the side of the road by a hit and run driver. I know they require helmets and lights for the Monday night rides.

Certainly the drivers fault but some of these bikers bear some responsibility. Had a guy riding in the middle of the right lane on Perkins Road the other day at 5. Royally fricked up traffic and was lucky he didn't get killed.

I'm not familiar with Nicholson, but is it 2 laned? Lit up?
If the cyclists had the proper lights, then I don't see the issue. They should have been perfectly visible for the driver.

no excuse for the driver but for fricks sake cyclists please be smarter and don't ride on a fricking 50mph road that you know people are going way faster on. It's just not smart.

Not condoning the hit and run but people shouldn't be riding bikes on a busy road no matter day or time. Pisses me off when the cyclist ride on river road when there are biking lanes on top of the levee.

As shitty as it is, the punishment for DWI is way worse than the punishment for hit-and-run. The law does kind of encourage people to flee the scene if they've been drinking.
It might be time to re-think that.

the same people that bitch about people cycling on streets are the same people that will bitch when the city tries to build the proper biking lanes and whatnot

Nicholson south of Brightside has a full lane shoulder. I'd hope the cyclists were riding there. Especially at night.
