There's been two cyclists killed in the Youngsville area in less than a year. I'm sure more have been hit too.

UPS driver maybe? Possible job lose as a driver if he hangs around.

It's terrible but not at all a surprise.

Nice victim blaming. I could kill another person if I don't pay attention while driving down Nicholson. It is only two lanes! I can kill another driver in a car if I do not pay attention. I can kill a motorcyclist. Are you saying it is a death wish to own a motorcycle?

Now that's just stupid for so many reasons.. These guys legally rolled the dice.. I wish they wouldn't have been hit and again, I hope the driver is caught but there is little defense for their inability to exercise some common sense

I'd hope the cyclists were riding there. Especially at night.

I can bet you they weren't.

Apparently they're not making you too late if you have time to drive half their speed.

If I'm already late might as well have fun on the ride. It cancels out the stress of being late

I doubt you actually do anything other than mutter something as you pass them

The hit and run guy is legally and morally responsible for what he did, and should be punished in accordance with the law.

But honestly, I travel La. 30 all the time and see bikers travelling north or South all the time. I shake my head wondering when one of these people will get hit.

The speed limit is 55 and heavy trucks and cars routinely drive 60mph. That's no place for a biker even though it is legal for them to be there. It's just too dangerous.

I am vigilant and try to give them a wide birth when I pass them by so that I do not mess with their "space" so to speak or startle them.

And being out there at night compounds the problem.

I don't have the answer, but bikers need to be more than careful. Personally I wouldn't do what they do.

still dumb if they think night riding nicholson is a safe thing to do.

Nope. We are talking about safety. Not inconvenience.

I wish the police would ticket for bicyclists riding their bicycles on sidewalks and against traffic. Very dangerous situations.

Ok

I'm the douche, not the guy wearing a full spandex suit running the Tour de France down busy streets. Oh, and in Baton Rouge none the less

Like I said, I don't dispute their right to do it, I just think they're dumb

That sounds fairly accurate.

I'm pro cyclist as they come and this idiot should be thrown under the jail...but I would not risk riding on a road like that at night...the cost is too high....you can be in the right and still be dead or hurt badly. Not worth it.
