can one get divorced in Louisiana and make their own decisions about the kids, custody and splitting of assets? Just use something like LegalZoom and be done with it on the cheap. I always wondered if this was possible.
I'm sure you can. Texas has no-fault and uncontested. It's getting to that point with your spouse amicably I assume, which isn't always the case hense why family court dockets are what they are. Congested.

I lost everything in my divorce in Florida the courts are set up for the women to frick us up. Anything my ex told them they believed. I would get summons to appear in court I would have to take a day off of work and go to court and she would not even show up. I was the nice guy in the divorce because I didn't want to throw my kids world up side down. I gave her the house, took all the debt, and basically lost everything. She asks for the divorce and already had a boyfriend. My advice to all men frick the love you once had for this woman she has. Treat divorce as a business deal. My oldest has lived with me for 6 years since the divorce and I have paid her for him in that time frame. He just turned 18 I asked to have him taken off her child support she said frick you. I had to spend 3k to go to court to have him taken off. Got a hearing in 3 weeks. My ex has not given me one dime for him in 6 years.

You think I would be the one pissed off I pay her 1500 a month for 2 kids I pay for my oldest son who lives with me but yet she is the one bitter. She wanted the Divorce not me. Yet she goes out of her way to try and frick me over. frick her. My kids know what happened and I have a great relationship with them so whatever

I feel ya.. I moved on and yet she hasn't found someone else that will put up with her batshit crazy self.. So its still my fault.
Every opportunity she gets to profit or attempt to profit she takes it..
It's been this endless cycle for 12 years now

You know what, I gave it all up too. House was not sold to divide equity. Could go on about accounts not equitably being divided but no need to. Gave them the new Escalade because my squid deserved to be in it, not her mother. On and on and on... Didn't even take a stick of furniture with the exception of my mother's antique piano she gave to ___ in hopes she would learn one day. Why? To make "home" "home" for the squid. No disruption.
Please, men, watch the doc in the OP. All we ask.

Only time my ex calls is when she needs something. Mine went thru 3 bf's and just got remarried. I give it 2 years max
I am social to her(for my kids) but after all the shite she has done to me after the divorce I will never like her ever again.

Read about a guy who was divorced, three children, paying child support. He was told that his ex hadn't exactly been faithful to him when they were married. so he had DNA testing done, found two of the three kids weren't his, and petitioned to have the child support for those two kids dropped. Judge basically told him, "Tough shite. This is what you agreed to."

Let's be honest. Marriage is a transaction. An exchange of resources/labor for sex/reproduction.
