Pelini also had 5 defenses who gave up 23ppg or more and three that gave up 27ppg or more. Aranda has one.

Don't you think comparing their tenures at LSU is the fairest measuring stick?

Otherwise Aranda is going to have a hard time keeping pace giving up more than 27 ppg in perpetuity while at Baylor.

No comparing their bodies of work is most fair. Pelini was here before the offensive era and his defenses have been shredded by modern offenses. Aranda will have a dominant D at Baylor this season and will likely out perform Pelini.

When he was at nebraska and playing in the big 10. When he was the HC and couldn't solely focus on the defense. Look at more than just one stat you dumbass.

I disagree with this. I believe the only reason he is taking this job is to come in and hopefully he gets another opportunity at a bigger school than where he was at (Youngstown St)
If he helps LSU win a championship or two he has my blessing to do whatever he wants.

Lmao yea Nebraska hired a defensive coach because they didn’t want his defense. Oh and btw Nebraska was in the Big-10 for each of those seasons you dolt. You people have no idea what you’re talking about.

Aranda had Top 10 defenses multiple years

Aranda also had defenses that were almost ranked outside of the top 25.

Pelini's defenses never ranked outside of the top 5.

That's significantly better, genius, whether you agree or not

The year before Pelini went to Nebraska their defense ranked outside of the top 100 in total defense and scoring defense.

Two years later, Nebraska had the #1 scoring defense and #7 total defense.

And that was his only good year. The season after taking over he gave up 28.5ppg. The season after the one you’re talking about was the start of his 4 year run I listed before, all between 23-29ppg.

You are going to want to avoid comparing their times at LSU BIGLY.

Aranda finished 26th in ppg in 2018 and 33rd in ppg in 2019.

And you might want to look at the draft picks on each team before you use talent as an excuse.

am excited that we will be going back to the 4-3 defense.

4-3 may be the “base” defense but in this day and age we’re going to be running way more 4-2-5 than 4-3.

Lol Pelini had 3 top 6 NFL draft picks along with the single most decorated defensive player in LSU history. Besides corner Pelini has the advantage in talent at every single position group. The talent isn’t even comparable, neither are the eras.
