Superior Grill on Highland looks to be a few months from opening. Casa Maria and La Carreta should be worried.

Not a restaurant but it's almost a guarantee that The Bandit/The Levee/ Former Shady's will have a name change again.

The Dive Bar that opened up where Rotolos was on Nicholson. I never see anyone there driving by.

i think Superior's food is gross.

Casa Maria - been once and they have managed to stay open with La Carreta on one side and Mi Padres on the other

La carreta will be fine

I'm kinda surprised they're still open to be honest. I think the food is good, but it's a little expensive to market to college kids. It never really seemed full and I haven't been in a year or so.

Nah, as long as white sorority girls continue to love queso and margs they'll be fine.

I was thinking Barcadia, but I haven't been since the change of management. The service sucked before and now they don't even have the Curbside burgers.

will survive in my opinion on the 5 home games alone

You'd think so, but that should have been enough for Serranos, and they were even more packed than Barcadia on gameday

Men too.

That's also why I added Umami. College people will eat sushi but not at those prices when Wahada is a minute down the road.

That's the one I forgot on my list.

They aren't Walkons bringing in 50-100k per home game. The place. While big, doesn't have too many tables to eat at. They sacrifice a ton of square footage to video game machines

Umami would kill in the right building and area of town. They do things that nobody else is doing, but LSU is the wrong area to do that.

Supposedly still in the works... theoretically opening in 2017.

I've never been to Table or hear any buzz about that place. And so many of the places around there are doing well:

I went once and the food was not good. I liked the decor and setup, but the food just tasted bad. Too salty, and the pork shoulder was covered in BBQ sauce. I guess i was expecting a smoked pork shoulder that didn't need sauce or something else, but it was bad too. The greens were way too salty.

i agree. I feel like they dropped a boat load into the place and there is no way they are bringing in profit today

That's the problem when you have "the most taps in baton rouge" and you have servers who don't know anything about beer. Not to mention a large portion of those taps are BMC products. Oh, and charging a cover to get in to a bar that the idea is geared more towards young professionals will keep people from going there. That and yeah, service is pretty bad, and food prices are too high for the bland food they put out.
Plus there is better beer at CBD across the street, and a cool vibe at the Cove (minus the smoke).

Considering I live right up the street from there and never heard of it until this thread about closing....I'd say them.

does anyone go to CBD? I've only been in BR since August but it seemed like Pelican House attracted bigger crowds on the week nights.

We never go to Pelican House and I like the guys who run the joint. The atmosphere isn't good -- it's too white, bright and cold in there. As a friend of my wife said "If you're going to go there, you have to bring you own party." The food isn't worth what you get for the price. And they've made too many bad moves -- that time they had a special Parish beer but you had to order an appetizer to get it, that beer festival they had where you paid a fortune to get in and just got crap swag like koozies and stickers. Corporate Brew and Draft is just so much better.

I might have agreed with you a few months ago, but the last few times I've been, their sushi rice has been mediocre at best and terrible-left-over-from-the-night-before at worst.

It's starting to rival Tsunami in inconsistency.

To me, a perfect world would be the beer selection from CBD in Pelican House's setting. CBD is just odd to me, disjointed layout and with no soft surfaces it gets ridiculously loud in no time.
