re: Far Beyond Driven by Pantera - OldManRiver
I was 14 in 1990, Pantera was by far my favorite band in the world for the next decade or so. Now that I'm 40+, it's not exactly what I listen to all the time, but I do enjoy throwing on some now and then. For me it's really the vocals that I lose interest in, especially on Trendkill and beyond. ...

NBC on Eatel - OldManRiver
For anybody in the Ascension area who has Eatel, do you find NBC has become almost unwatchable during any type of motion or contrasting lighting? The Olympics was horrible with blurring and artifacting, and watching the NFL tonight is more of the same. Just wondering if it's a "me" issue or others...

re: Is there a machine that scrapes up glued down engineered wood floors? - OldManRiver
was reading that it's best to cut the floor into 1ft squares using a circular saw to make removal easier
If you do this, and you wish to salvage anything else in the room the floors are in, I highly recommend a skill saw with a dust port and bag. Otherwise you'll have sawdust cove...

re: Curfew tonight - OldManRiver
They don't cancel flights due to curfew
American Airlines did. I was supposed to fly from Dallas to Baton Rouge on Wednesday night at 10:20. American cancelled my flight around 2 pm. When I called to figure out what was going on, they told me it was due to the curfew. I was able ...

re: Body found off Hoo Shoo Too Rd. identified as Amedisys founder Bill Borne - OldManRiver
The wording in this Facebook post is just off. Told my wife last night that it sounded like the poster was not facing reality and refused to believe her dad was dead
This is my dad Bill Borne. He has been missing now for 24 hours. He was last seen around 2 am Sunday morning. His red 4-whee...

re: The Great Flood of 2016: Fill Out Disaster Forms NOW. Link Inside! - OldManRiver
So I'm looking at the Amite gauge at Denham(because the Bayou Manchac gauge doesn't work, but that's for another thread ) and I see it's gone down about a foot in the last 5 hours. Does anybody know what the level has to drop to at Bayou Manchac Point before Bayou Manchac would be able to f...

Manchac Place is still dry as a bone. Could have cut grass today if I wasn't lazy. Not sure if we're high enough to be clear or just a hair away from disaster. I'm not gonna sleep well until Bayou Manchac starts flowing the right way and going down...

I'd guess they mean Alligator Bayou Road which is acting as a levee for the homes downstream of Spanish Lake Swamp. Can't think of any actual man made levees near Santa Maria...
I just saw the video from WBRZ from I-10 at Manchac. That was a pretty good flow in the wrong way (according to the man narrating).
As somebody who can almost see Bayou Manchac from my roof, that really sucks. If the Amite at BM has crested, and supposedly Bayou Manchac itself has c...

re: The Great Flood of 2016: Fill Out Disaster Forms NOW. Link Inside! - OldManRiver
They are really just guessing, no gauge to accurately read there so it could be cresting now or at 3 am. Port Vincent has only gone up .3/foot in the last few hours, and it's south of Bayou Manchac, so I'd assume BM has to be pretty close to crested...

re: The Great Flood of 2016: Fill Out Disaster Forms NOW. Link Inside! - OldManRiver
I-10 is now 2-3 feet deep at Bayou Manchac and increasing, as per scanner.
This may be a dumb question, but here goes. According to online resources, I-10 elevation at that point is 19.6. To me that means that Bayou Manchac would be around 21.5-22 feet deep, which makes perfect sen...

Just got back from Bayou Manchac at Old Perkins. Water is very high obviously, but stagnant, not moving in either direction. Water hasn't reached Manchac Plantation yet, still has a ways to go before it gets there....
Supernovasky
I know you aren't a fortune teller, but if my house is at 30 foot elevation about 1.5 miles from Bayou Manchac on the other side of Bluff, I should be ok in terms of water in the house provided the 21.5 crest is accurate?...
