If they had any consistency I would probably go once a week. We love the bombshells but sometimes they are soggy and chewy and sometimes they are hot and fried perfectly, it's not worth the price to risk having something inedible. Also went for the $5 burger day and asked for no lettuce, and was told since it was a special request it would be full price, made zero sense to me.

Umami...Mexican place by Mike Andersons.
Both of these are good, and usually busy (especially Umami), I can't see them folding.

I would have said Olive or Twist but then along came Rum House to bail them out.
Anyone go to Gouter? Always looks empty to me. And how does Doe's stay open? Took someone to lunch a few months ago and cost a fortune and only 4 other people.

Canefield Tavern. There's never a crowd in there.

Yeah, I think they are doing pretty well, just expanded the bar area a good bit and started doing a happy hour.

I've never really thought of it as a lunch spot... I just hope they stay open for restaurant week, definitely one of the best deals in town.

Gouter will make it. It always has a crowd and I really like what the chef is doing there. Started off slow but they are doing well.
Phil's will do fine.
Not sure how Doe's stays open either.
Pit n peel will close.
Capital city crawfish will close.
Omi will probably close even though it is good.
Watch for Kalurah Street to close in late 2017 or early 2018
As a jewish Deli, Milford's misses the mark. It may close.
Eliza was pretty packed the other night on a Tuesday. I think they will be OK if they expand the menu and get creative.
Crispy Catch is 50/50 as they have Tony's backing it.
Simple joe's is not gonna make it. how do you frick up breakfast?
I really like La divina, but do not know how they afford rent.
that's all I can think of today. I don't venture out to sherwood/coursey too much but i can see some of my favorite ethnic places taking a beating.

Is this the restaurant in place of Chelsea's? Is it even open yet?

Sherwood Corridor..
Lee's Hamburgers in that death knell location, and have yet to even have their Warholian Fifteen out the gates.
Hawk's Nest is listless and in a bad location, Bighead Smith still makes a solid Shrimp Remoulade though.
Bighead's Tavern, gonna have to get the word out on their move to Sherwood CC, and build up more regulars, do some decent plates, but aren't really cheap either.
Sherwood Poboy, has this location done any business since it was a Ground Pati?
Duang Tawan, the menu is hit and miss, tthere has hardly ever been but a trickle of customers since inception, and growing your herbs in baskets all over the lot and front yard sorta hokie looking? Meanwhile, El Paso next door is slammed.
Jones Creek..
JCOB, weak product, and now Market St difficult to navigate with road work, could be a problem for Nagoya Cafe too?. Hopefully, these two and El Limon, Jasmine's on the Bayou,etc..come out better for the aggravation once the widening is done.
Seigen..
Riverside Patty has to be getting crushed by the onslaught of burger joints right on top of them(Mooyah and Burgersmith), let alone TJ Ribs selling them, or even overrated Freddie's. Cheeburger Cheeburger couldn't handle the additions.
Zoroona..a unique take on Middle Eastern fare than many of the similar BR Lebanese places, but also hit and miss on some dishes, and the price per portion is very proud in contrast. They are lucky to be in a corridor with little to none in genre competition.
Essen..
Omi, love the food, but ownership has at times seemed shaky? The parking lot ebbs and flows, that location has always been a killer.
Ava St Cafe, mediocre fare and reviews to date, and yet to have a Warholian Fifteen by the looks of the lot most any time of the day.
Crawford Two's, used to go back in the 1990's, then saw roaches take over, and food sit under heat lamps for hrs, but it seems enough folks like their catfish to stay open?
I suspect Tyler at Crispy Catch regrets not putting in a dry-thru window by now. Is Rama or Zeeland St doing numbers they aim for? Galatoire's just a tax write-off or is that the Times Pic/Advocate's job? Mestizo do enough lunch biz to carry dinner's numbers for Jim? Table gonna make it? Do the Economides do enough numbers despite really great fare at Zorba's?
All the Mid-City and Govt St places have to do monster lunch biz to carry the day as BR folks fear it at night(sans Superior which is overrated and gouges but sells tons of drinks)

man that was hard to read
is pretty slammed at lunch every time i go and pass by it. Mooyahs sucks and Burgersmith is ok.
RP is always the same and cheap and the industrialplex will always support RP because of the large burgers for 6 bucks

True, Industriplex workers will probably stay loyal. I used to love it downtown and when first in Seigen corridor. But, I was younger then, went twice in the last two years, today RP tastes like greasy Sysco crap. City Pork now a competitor for biz in the heart of Industriplex.
Whole Foods BBQ Bar serves a better burger for practically the same price made from great free range beef, organic tomato, lettuce, red onion, on a Brioche bun, with Bubbie's bread and butter chips to boot.

How in the world is Boil and Roux still around? I thought that place would close within 6 months of opening when they didn't have most of their "boil" menu items.
Sadly, Curry N' Kebab is probably closing soon. They shut down the buffet last time we went in. Had to wait an obscene amount of time for food and paid 2x what we would pay for the buffet for half the food. They have only one person in the kitchen so she is turning out one dish at a time. It simply can't work for long. If they go back to having the buffet then maybe they will survive.

I was going to list Curry N Kebab, but erased it. Worry Al Noor could join them in the coming year or two also.
Chinese Inn on Airline & nearby Dim Sum too, never have more than a car or two tops, for years now.

Yes. I love the food and hope they succeed, but service has been terrible. Just a prediction.

Somos Bandidos will probably close.
I've been twice and never saw another person there while I was ordering or eating at the tables outside. Granted, it was in the evening and not during the downtown lunch rush.
I just don't see them making it.

I live right by Marinas across from Pennington. When they first opened I figured they would be gone fast. They seem to be doing a little better now. They have a good crowd a couple times a week at dinner time.
Service use to be painfully slow but has now improved.
When they first opened they wouldn't let me get a to go margarita but two weeks ago I was there and 5 different people came in to get to go margs.
