agree and never ask a barber if you need a haircut

waiters have become one of the whiniest occupations, they seem to think they should make 100K a year working a few hours a night, a couple nights a week fetching a meal. some people tip a lot, others not so much it all averages out, if you aint making a good tip at my table then you need to go look in the mirror.

Wish we would get away from the whole tipping model, and restaurants raise the prices and pay the servers an honest wage

$30 tip on $120 is a damn good tip, imo. Gift card or not. Regardless of whether or not the money for the food came out of your own pocket, if the bill is $120, then $30 tip is a big tip. He doesn't have to tip any larger just because he's using a gift card, don't be silly. It's not like the server has to do any extra work.

No offense, but that sounds like a crock of shite, to me. I can't imagine there's not a place in "the system" to just key something in as a miscellaneous purchase, and then cash out the amount to the waitron.

If there is, we have no idea how to do it FWIW, I think they're getting a new system this week anyway.

But I never got the impression that we didn't take tips on GCs as a ploy to get someone to come back. There have been times servers haven't gotten tipped because the person didn't bring cash along with their GC, and that's just not the type of place to secretly be able to give the money from the GC to the server and not do it.

You're also assuming they aren't claiming their tips. It's no different than paying cash anywhere. They both have an obligation to report income, but no telling if they actually do.

Note: I'm sure most don't

You still haven't made it clear what the bet is. Make it clear and I may place a wager.

Is Paypal ok? I don't need to meet some goomba named mike that should be in Goodfellas.

I don't gamble chief. If I'm wrong I'm wrong. Maybe he cooked them out of his own kitchen. The building Ruth's Chris is in now was built for it specifically and was the first franchise built. He also built one shortly after in Chicago. If he had some rented or smaller place prior to opening the current location how about you tell us? I'll be the first one to acknowledge how smart you are. After all, you're a Rebel.

I just hope you aren't going to tell me it's a package liquor store on Main street that sold fish bowl beers.

Me too, but it's because I want the max airline miles on my CC purchases.

Shut up :) I'm greatful for my gift card and will enjoy a nice dinner with my SO and tip 15-20% max like I always do . Jealous much ? :)

The first Ruth Chris' franchise was located on Airline Hwy in Prairieville, which is now Southern Kumfort strip club. From there he moved it to it's current location.

Well you sure stole that guys surprise. I learned something. I've always just looked at bad tit jobs there. And considering the source I know it's correct and doubtful the others answer.
