Olive oil - What's in your pantry? - LSUAfro
This time of year I do a lot more lighter eating because it's frickin hot. This is my go to non-cooking EVOO for most of my cooking. Looking for something new. ...

re: Been experimenting with "health insurance" for a year and a half - LSUAfro
that is a horrible analogy
 Yeah that wasn't good. The OP is such a bad idea . It made me nervous when we had our insurance lapse for about 4 days while switching jobs and I didn't pay for Cobra. I just told my wife if something bad happens, we're just gonna have...

re: Credit Card Rewards and Points Discussion - LSUAfro
It's still only $65 this year, right?
Right, going up to $95. That's good enough reason to call and threaten to cancel and end up with some free SPG points at least.
You have the Biz card? I'm thinking of maybe getting it. So they have a day where they give you a $30 credit or ...

re: Credit Card Rewards and Points Discussion - LSUAfro
Targeted offer? Think I may MS this. Not huge, but 2x points on $2,500 in spend gets 5k SW points for $25 and with the companion pass that's essentially 10k points offering about $170 value or so.
Earn 2X points on purchases made at gas stations August 1–October 15. Here's how: 1...

re: Cajun microwave/box ideas - LSUAfro
We had pretty much that exact setup at an old hunting camp I was in. They work great, but it's just an oven
Yeah it's just an outdoor oven. Perfect for a camp and sitting around a fire drinking beer thinking about the piglet inside, or in your case, the shoulder and the ribs....
Use it in conjunction with an Amazin Smoke Tube and you'll get a light smoke flavor. My buddy has one that he uses in that manor. Chicken thighs, pork roast, pork loin and tendeloin, brisket, salmon...... He did have to make a small hole in order for the smoker to stay lit.
The p...

re: Rual development loan costs - LSUAfro
My first home I bought a $200k home through RD. I think the income cut off was right at 75k and I was just under it so it allowed me to do zero down with a no PMI upfront and like $60/month on the loan. My closing costs were around $6k if I recall correctly. Which was competitive with other loans. ...

re: Dry aged steaks - yay or nay? - LSUAfro
My local HEB now ages steaks, so I decided to do a side by side of 20 day dry aged vs. non dry aged
Maybe my problem is I'm going for the ultra dry aged steak. Never considered this. I guess I ignorantly assumed longer is better. TWSS. I'll aim for the sub 30 day steak. If it sucks,...

Dry aged steaks - yay or nay? - LSUAfro
This isn't a DIY thread as we've seen in the past. I've eaten dry aged steaks at some of the nation's best steak houses and I don't get it. 40 day, 55 day, 65 day it doesn't matter. I've tried them 4 or 5 times just to see if it was the particular cow, cut, or cook, but I'm usually left disappoin...

re: 100K Net Worth - LSUAfro
Would 100k by 30 be an achievement or just so so?
It's a nice milestone especially for a single guy. On a MT board with which seems to be full of mostly finance/attorney/engineer type folks I wouldn't say it is probably all that uncommon. The kicker excluding many under 30 might ...
