Despite her lack of restaurant experience, Ruth's enthusiasm and determination made the restaurant a greater success than even she had anticipated. In 1977, at the urging of a loyal customer, Ruth granted her first franchise just outside Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Our Sizzling Steak Concepts franchise began shortly thereafter in the mid 1980's in Georgia.

Straight from ruths Chris website.
Notice the just outside Baton Rouge

eta: and we're just now anchored on the 9th page for the two word subject line ...

Just wanted to clarify that because I really find it hard to believe places are telling you they don't take tips on gift cards in order to force you to come back I assure you your server wants their tip more than they want you to come back
Look at this from the business owner's perspective and not the server's perspective....

This thread went from 'what to expect' to tipping standards to the history of Ruth's Chris and I still don't know if the OP knows exactly what to expect.

Being called a douche on this board makes me certain that I have no problems to care in the world at all. Many other posters have given me a seal of approval that is nice to know about how I am regarded about food. Your accusation of trolling is the funniest thing I have read in a decade or two.
