Point taken. Sorry to waste the board's time.

I agree with what you all are saying about poor people. For me this is not the question or conversation I was hoping for. In the video there is a comparison of two plants of approximately equal size. One in baton rouge the other outside of Houston. These two plants paid radically different local taxes. This is the point of my question. Is this the most prudent way to do it. Since we are the ONLY state to do it with a state level board.
I am assuming that the employees of the Texas plant also add to the local economy in Texas, so a Louisiana worker doing the same is no justification for removing local taxes forever.

I guess for me the shocking thing was the comparison of all the states and the amount of tax exemptions given at the state level for local taxes.
I am wondering if the board sees an issue with Louisiana being the only state that has this kind of state level board.
For the record, I agree with you about education being a key to personal advancement.

This is a long listen, but it is VERY interesting. I would be interested to hear what the board thinks and if anything can be done.

Best I could come up with on such short notice: “My colleagues and I are acting aggressively to ensure that every American… can exercise his or her right to participate in the democratic process, unencumbered by unnecessary restrictions that discourage and discriminate or that disenfranchise in the name of a problem that doesn’t exist,” Holder said.
It is not a problem because they use it to win. Voter fraud is part of their solution to winning elections.

re: Pertinent questions re Ferguson: Should Officer Wilson appear before Grand Jury?

If I only have 5 seconds to protect against a beating, then I revert to my training. (I am retired military (11B), so I know why training is important. So when things are chaotic and I cannot see clearly, I can still react effectively. If he had a taser, shouldn't he have "shot" him with that?
Anyway, that is the issue I have. high stress doesn't excuse dead.

This may need to be its own thread, but I'll put it here and see what happens.
I have a couple issues with what is happening in Ferguson, MO that may not run in line with the majority of the topics out there.
First, why is every incident that make the news viewed as a democrat vs republican event? As if these are two opposite groups. If your first reaction to news is "how does this affect my party?" then you are part of the problem!
Second, do officers in MO carry nonlethal weapons? I understand that people are saying that brown was charging and possibly beating the officer, but is the penalty for beating an officer death? Should the officer first try to disable the person with non lethal means. If brown had a weapon, then I could see using deadly force, but not other wise.
Am I wrong?

If this was the only issue with the law, then I agree with you that they could amend it. You are being disingenuous when you declare that the more people hurt, the better politically...
The law is hurting people as it is. The amount of "fixing" it would take would be like passing the law all over again. I do not think anyone has the political fortitude for that. This law was written to fulfill a political ideology and not to correct any problem. An amendment cannot correct that. Healthcare COSTS are still going up.

Isn't the opposite worse? The liberal solution to bastard children is to kill them.
So the GOP perceived disdain for a live person is worse than the liberal actual lust for dead ones?
And how is that disdain manifested? "Get a job, work hard in school, make something of yourself."
How is "kill it before its a drain on resources" a better solution?
It doesn't make sense.

You think he will be able to convince the football team to play in a bowl game?
So let's see. In the past couple years LATech has turned down a bowl bid to avoid playing ULM, hired an AD that ULM would not even interview (even after being approached by the candidate), and now the ex-president of the alumni association significantly supports ULM athletics. There is something going on in Ruston.

Fixed it. Thanks. That changed everything. *everythang
The question is not "will this happen?" The question is how long until it happens?
Lhsaa - how long until...

Here is where I see the LHSAA eventually going: all football playing schools will be divided into groups of four. Each group will compete for its own "State" championship. They will have a rule that says a school can win a "State" championship only once in a four-year period. Thereby ensuring that every child gets to experience a "State" championship once in their high school career. Because it is for the kids, right?!

Hey! Nice job by you, they are identical. I mean, if you didn't put them up at the same time, I would swear they are the same thing! And listen to this...no come here listen... I heard that the Nazis also wore boots. I HAVE SEEN PEOPLE AT ULM WEARING BOOTS!! You are on to them dude! Good job.

But they are dispersed across the state. I am talking about class C mostly. And travel for athletics is tough without the split. I am anticipating the split to eventually lead to split districts too.
maybe my "fear" is unwarranted, but that is where I think it will lead.
