I actually tried out Johnny's to see what all the fuss was about from the Johnny freaks on this board. There is one in St. Martinville and I went there thinking it would suck. It was pretty darn good....

I do this a couple of nights a week too. I mostly just make a soup - bean soups of all kinds. It's easy too, just soak beans overnight and put in crockpot in morning with onions, etc. Tomato soup is easy and you can do all kinds of stuff with it. Eat them with a salad or grilled cheese sandwich....

Yes, taste is subjective. You like your steak marinated in pickle juice overnight. He's just telling you, subjectively and like most rational people with working taste buds, that he wouldn't like that. ...

I would throw in a couple of carrots, an onion quartered, and some mushrooms, then strain it all out in the morning and discard. Maybe some sage and Rosemary too....
Never heard of that place, La Pagua and Acme Taco are my go to mexican places here
I like both of these places. I was disappointed in Acme Burger, though. It's right around the corner from my house and I was really hoping for a go-to burger place. Have you been there? ...

Meh, looks like another Agave or Coyote Blues. I'll go because I like Tex-Mex, but we have enough of that here. Hopefully I'm wrong and it'll be something different. ...
I say mix w/ ground beef but that's b/c I think it would be too much carbs otherwise.
I don't know dude. If you're thinking about frying boudin and putting it on a hamburger bun I don't think you're worried that much about a little more carbs....

Yeah the wait staff is always rough there, all tatted up and pierced. I really find it unappetizing to have my food brought to me by somebody with a couple of lip piercings. ...
Will it fail because the discerning, sophisticated shoppers in Laffy realize they can buy the equivalent cheaper at gas stations or in little stores in Broussard, Scott and Carencro?
Damn straight. The boudin won't be nearly as good as at the Best Stop. Plus, I don't think they c...

re: Broth vs. stock?

Posted by jiggy0 on 2/23/13 at 6:16 pm
Generally, stock is made with bones and because of the collagen is slightly heavier. Broth is made with meat and is lighter. I say "generally", I'm sure there will be disagreement. The difference isn't exactly set in stone....

I looked up that article. Pretty damning. Funniest line:
The citizens of New Orleans might not be the most energetic Americans—I believe their morning exercise regimen consists of stumbling out of bars—but they are joyful, expressive eaters.
:dude:...
It was a joke. Some TD posters say if you put tomatoes in a gumbo then it's not gumbo anymore. The guy was carrying it to this trhead. That is all....
