re: Had we not given Orgeron that ridiculous buyout we could just replace him with Aranda

Actually not a bad idea. Maybe it still will happen in the future.

Is it possible that the negotiations are done and Hanagriff is saving face?

This. I am not sure I blame a school if the kid doesn't keep his side of the bargain.
Best point on this thread.
the recruiting point is true, but only with regards to Mike LB and cover corners.
A&M has good depth at DL now and the OLB doesn't have depth but the starters will be serviceable.
A&M has likely out recruited LSU with DL the past 2 years.
Answered my own question. Snyder was only DC 1 year before a&m (OSU) and it was their worst record that decade.

He was highly regarded. Was he their DC though?

I agree with Broski. Anything is possible with this kid. It may be hard to overcome the old Baylor Steele reputation with a Texas kid. Things change and some of these kids weren't paying attention to the abysmal teams that Baylor put together before Art.
Any updates on this? The kid owns A&M's single game passing yards record.

Kenny Hill an option?
He has a full release from TAMU, but I don't know what the SEC rules are on transfers.

Interesting. I wonder how this relates to "guaranteed money" and "buy-out". I wonder if this is a soft way of letting him go without paying any kind of guaranteed money.

If LSU isn't bowl eligible next year what are the odds everyone gets the axe? It honestly wouldn't shock me.
It certainly seems Alleva is preparing for a wholesale change. Just my opinion, but I think that was part of what hurt LSU with Chief.

Don't recall his recruiting being so strong when he was at Baylor.

I hope the best for the kid even if he makes it on TAMUs roster
The A&M site / press seem to think that he will not end up at TAMU.

What would this board do if Chavis offers McGinnis?
I believe that he has a committable offer from A&M pre-Chavis. Actually I am not sure if it is committable anymore, but I thought it was. A&M sites think that he really wants to go to LSU.

Well A&M has their starter plus a really good QB committed this year.
Kyler may take his MLB draft (if it is high enough), so Sumlin will be left with a walkon backing up Kyle Allen.
Prepare for some Speedy lead wildcat if Kyle goes down.

I didn't know this.

They sort of have a history with QB drugs. Just saying.
Sumlin mentioned that he is not keen on intraconference transfers at QB.
I cannot remember which QB (Davis, Showers, Matthews), but he doesn't even care for a team that he will play getting his QB. But never say never.

Nothing against Brick, but if it is he who gets the nod, the contract likely won't pay what Chavis made or what Shoop would ask for (just my speculation).
Heck, Alleva didn't want to give Chavis very good buyout terms.
So, if Brick gets the nod, do you get the feeling Alleva is keeping Les on a tighter leash?

I thought with the dead period the coaches could not contact the recruits, is that right?
IIRC, no face to face. Kid can still have calls and visit (without a meeting).

A&M is scrambling to find a CB since they missed out on Kendall Sheffield. Probably too little, too late on Amadi.
This. There is also a perception that they slow played Boyd and Hill b/c Sheffield made A&M think he was going there.

Chavis he doesn't know if Chavis wont leave before he finishes
Since 1989 Chavis has only been at 3 schools, with A&M being one of them. He is as likely (or more) likely to retire before jumping again.

Oklahoma really under performed this year. Big Game Boob is supposedly under pressure to make changes. Now, he can go to the powers that be and say "we do not need to get rid of our DC, just look other programs want him."
Sumlin is a big Bob homer. I believe that he looked at Mike the first time he hired Snyder, although Sumlin was a bit far down his list before he made his hire the 1st time.

I think he gets a bit overly excited as well as likes the attention. The end result is "troll" like.
I wrestled against Cormier in Lafayette several times during high school(wont discuss our record). I am pulling for him, although I haven't followed his career as closely as I should.
If it comes down to wrestling, DC is the clear choice. I don't know enough about MMA to put real money down though.

As MenloDawg says, this has been debunked.
It's a shame that Sumlin has published / leaked his every move and thought onto message boards. I almost feel bad for him. And all of this time he seemed pretty rude to the media to let so much of his cards show.
I guess his loss is our gain.
