Haha is there a certain thread I should do this in?
Advice for my first LSU game ever (Mississippi State game)
Posted by LSUro0kie on 9/3/12 at 3:16 pm
Hey guys,
Seems like TigerDroppings is the pre-eminent LSU football destination on the Internet so thought I'd ask you a few questions about a trip me and some friends are planning in November.
The plan is to make a big trip down to New Orleans during a fall school break and come down to LSU for the November 10th game vs. Mississipi State. Our plan is to get into New Orleans Thursday night and go out on the town, catch the Hornets-Bobcats game on Friday (will be a joke game, I know), LSU game on Saturday and then the Saints-Falcons game on Sunday afternoon and return on Monday or Tuesday.
We've never been to a college football game as we are from Canada but we are all gigantic sports fans and it seems to be nearly unanimous that LSU has the best college game day atmosphere so we thought it was a must to check out.
Just some logistic stuff I was wondering about - is there buses coming in from NO on game day or is it better to rent a car for the Saturday? What is the best way to arrange our transportation, how is the traffic, etc? And will the game be in the evening?
I know tailgating is a big thing. Is this something we should participate in being 4 random dudes from Canada? Should we bring our own stuff and is there a specific area that would be best for us to do this in? I have heard of pre-game stuff being pretty big and the spectacle of it all, is there anything specific we should be looking to do/experience?
I was also wondering if it is a good idea or not to stay after the game in Baton Rouge and get a hotel so we can party and drink on campus (or somewhere else?) and then leave Sunday morning back to NO for the Saints game. If there is no buses I'm guessing this is the best option as all of us will likely want to have a few drinks. Just some background, we are all 20-25 year old males.
Any other tips are more than welcome, we are complete rookies and just want to soak in and experience the college football culture to its fullest!
Thanks in advance.
