win 1 then maybe
Oh, may have came across the wrong way, definitely wasn't meaning to compare SB to the history or program of CSF with the Championships. Was talking more of the type of school, lesser name but kind of a magnet for local baseball talent that doesn't go pro or to bigger schools. As mentioned, don't know SB a lot so was just a thought...
Anyhow, have a great summer guys...
Hope we meet at Omaha next year

Hey guys, missed too much of the Super Regionals, but was pulling for LSU. Didn't expect Stony Brook to have the team they did. Possibly they could be like Cal St. Fullerton on the west coast? Not in history of course, but not a name school, but a feeder for local baseball talent that doesn't go minors or to bigger name schools. Don't know enough about them, but what I saw they looked real impressive.
Will say, the ending showed great class by the LSU fans. Of course, a real tough loss, not everyone likes to credit the other team, but it was a great showing by your fans there. Us OSU fans remember that hospitality back in 2004 (of course, the ending was different which may have added to more sympathy beers. ;)
Oregon State didn't get as far as we liked, but they do return a lot of talent, so the should be able to make a more serious run next year. Hopefully LSU and OSU ends up in separate regional/super regional brackets and can meet up in Omaha. Telling family, friends we are going next time OSU makes it! Would be great to meet up in Omaha next year and tailgate with the LSU fans!

What do yall do when you have to go to UW for a baseball series? I would be worried about falling through those wooden rotting planks that they seem to think work for bleachers. Good luck next year and beat the ducks!
For OSU/UW baseball games up here, ever since the first 2006 Championship, they've had the Friday game at Safeco (Mariners ballpark) which is fun. There's a lot of OSU alums in Seattle area, so usually they get 10-14K in and first base side is orange, third base side purple. Fun setting. The Sat/Sun games are at the UW ballpark, which I agree, for a major university is an absolute joke of a ballpark! Believe it is getting renovated, UW really needs to support their baseball more esp with what has happened at OSU, uo is now good and Wash. St. is a solid program.

Yes...and please do! Will be pulling for you guys (and Pac-12 sans quackers). You guys have the hitting, pitching that's for sure. Not sure of your pitching depth (which is always critical), but hope you guys can do it.

We've got to do something about Beaver Sports Central though. Is that really the best fan site out there for Beaver fans?
The OSU forums are spread out, so there's several but none as popular as this one. Pure Orange is active and has an older format (to say the least), the guy that runs it is a great guy, but it's not his full time job so doesn't have much time to update it, more of a hobby. The OSU rivals one is active on the paid part, but free forum is dead. Scout probably has the best free board. There's others but maybe Scout might be easiest to access for other schools.

I thoroughly enjoyed the sweep of the Ducks. Do you live here in Oregon? I live and work in Beaverton. My wife lived in Corvallis for a couple of years so I used to get down there quite a bit while we were dating. Corvallis really is a great town to live and work in if you can find a good paying job. Great quality of life and very friendly folks.
Good to hear you're from Beaverton. I grew up in Portland but now in Seattle surrounded by purple, we try to get down to Corvallis for a couple games per year and those up here. OSU winning last 7 of 8 over both WA schools has made things easier up here for sure!

Eerie.
Shades of Alexis Serna in the '04 football game and the voodoo hex on his extra point attempts.
Sigh, yes I know. This one hurt bad, but that last Serna PAT was a huge punch in the gut, maybe being in the stands made it hurt more. We had a GREAT time down in 2004 (except for that ending).

Love those gifs haha! The bottom one is great, haven't seen the top one yet! :rotflmao:
Yeah, will drop in occasionally in the future for some OSU presence, great site.
Yes, please whip up on the quackers if you meet up, they've had a breeze of a regional. We swept them end of season so you guys should whoop up on them. Good luck going forward.
re: Round of applause for OSU pitcher Scott Schultz
Posted by GoBeavs93 on 6/4/12 at 10:05 am to WildTchoupitoulas
Shultz was a rock for most of the season, but last night he was special and kept OSU in the game. Schultz is just a Sophomore so hopefully we have him at least one more year!

The Oregon State University baseball team acquitted itself to a very high degree. THIS OSU team is good enough to get to Omaha THIS year. The only thing that stopped them was the luck of the draw that sent them to Baton Rouge for this regional.
I don't agree with the OSU coach's tactics to slow the game down, however, the Umpire's job is to enforce the rules. Because no Umpire compelled OSU to speed up the pace of the game, it is logical to conclude that OSU did nothing in violation of the rules. It would be illogical to conclude that the Umpire's allowed OSU to violate the rules. Props to the OSU coach for artfully exploiting the rules of the game to what he perceived to be his advantage.
My firm belief is that OSU is good enough to have won a handful of the Regionals that have occurred and are concluding this evening.
Yes, there was some grumbling with OSU ranked where they were having to play at LSU. But, they had a couple poor losses in the season that hurt them.
As far as slowing down the game, Casey is a very tactical manager so will use a variety of options if needed. Don't like too much slowing of the game but at least this one went quicker than previous. Child was working too slow for me as well!
As for your last sentence, I totally agree. Hopefully next year they don't make it close and get back to hosting!
Good luck Tigers

Well, that was a real tough ending, but proud of the way OSU battled yesterday in a great, back and forth game. LSU though stepped up and got it done when it counted. Oregonian article below.
Myself and most OSU fans be pulling for you guys going forward. You have great pitching, hitting and D! Hopefully will take it all the way so at least we can say we lost to the Champs! Box was a great atmosphere, awesome.
OSU is a young team, so hopefully we can meet up next year (how about at Omaha next time rather than at Box!;)
Sorry about a few OSU trolls with some head scratching posts...definitely not typical of our fan base.
Shoot, maybe I'll check out the Fark board for a much needed chuckle. Could use a good Chip Kelly gif right about now!
Great site, good chattin' and good luck Tigers!

Yes, on Comcast SportsNet throughout the NW. Just head to a bar with cable and they should have it.

Summary of last night's OSU game and what is up for today. You all will probably like the first part.
Time to grab another bloody mary before first pitch, hopefully Wetzler can get OSU back on the right track again.

Classy. Y'all did pretty much concede the game thought to a point.
Yeah, thought Casey left Dan Child in little longer than he should. Part of that might have been the Friday pitcher Fry is out for this tournament. If you didn't catch it, Fry went out the Belmont game with issues in his elbow and Coach Casey stated he will not be throwing anymore. He doesn't want to risk that promising Freshman's future.
Might not have mattered though with the way you guys are playing though.
Congrats on a whipping

Well, thought I'd come back around and say congrats, the Tigers put on a clinic last night. The link to the Oregonian write up is below.
You guys put everything together, pitching, defense, hitting, and the atmosphere at the Box was the real deal.
For those saying Gausman was off his game, will say, we generally do make pitchers work and don't chase pitches. Nonetheless, he's the real deal and overcame that after a few innings and we had no answer.
OSU has came back from this situation in 2007 to eventually take out host Virginia, but I feel this is a much taller order to have a shot at Monday.
Frustrating in that I hoped we would bring more to the table last night. But will give credit where credit's due, you guys delivered on all sides and pretty much dominated the game.
Hopefully we can meet up again later today, just wanted to drop in and say congrats on the win, a great team and atmosphere.

I've seen some head scratching OSU posts here, not sure why, most of the fan base is pretty level headed.
Will say, with my Evil Beaver post, honestly was just sending for everyone to get a laugh off a cheesy 80s Super Bowl ad. Didn't mean to troll or for it to be taken the wrong way.
Had a great time down in 2004, ran into lot of good LSU fans. Hope a few here doesn't tarnish the OSU fanbase.
Anyway, here's to a great game tonight.

What is up with arrogant Oregon St fans? Must be a the area of the country they are from?
U talkin' to me? lol. Didn't think I was coming off as arrogant...grew out of that, maybe back in my 20s!
Don't lump all us fans in Oregon as arrogant because of those chumps in Eugene.
Was just passing along an article...also hard for LSU fans to call others arrogant you have plenty of those types as well!
Oregonian update -- Saturday starter
Posted by GoBeavs93 on 6/2/12 at 11:28 am
Per Casey in Oregonian, it looks to be big, bad Dan Child on the mound. Oh yeah. Unlike what seems many LSU fans think, OSU's here to win this puppy not just be here...going to be a battle tonight!
"It will be a matchup of College World Series rings – three of the last six – at Alex Box Stadium, and of hard-throwing right-handers.
OSU coach Pat Casey moved Dan Child up a day, and not just to give weary Ben Wetzler another couple of days’ rest.
LSU struggles against right-handed power pitching, with a righty-heavy lineup. Child has a mid-90s fastball with a sink that earned him a spot on USA Baseball’s collegiate national team."

Good God man, angrybeavs.com is easily the most pathetic OSU site. Step away and stop giving our fan base a bad name.
Sorry guys, we're not all like this. Here's to a battle tomorrow night.

They have two aces, don't you know?
It's THREE aces...come on, keep up..! :booboo:
Wetzler has been OSU's Friday guy and Fry often Saturday, but as others mentioned, they are a very close 1-2. Believe tomorrow it should be Wetzler and Child going the following game. Not a big drop off between the three.
