re: Awesome to see the run game get going

I really think the OL play is the X factor this season.
Without it, Brees looks worse and we can't run
Green Bay had no push up the middle.
They are very weak at the NT & DE spots.
Detroit had Brees running for his life for most of the game.
Time will tell how good we are up front.
That will be the key going forward.

Shaq Thompson would be my guy.
Explosive athlete has played RB, LB, and DB which are all positions of need of need for us.
Not the biggest guy but maybe could add some weight.
Would be ideal at ILB next to Lofton.
Started at nickle as a true freshman and played extremely well.
Rob Ryan could move him all over the field.

Agreed that the loss of those picks compromised our depth especially at LB and CB.
We have picked up the slack with undrafted free agents but for some reason those two spots have always been our achilles heel under Payton.
He seems to finally have a good running game but at the expense of a future 1st rounder.
I bet if Jabari Greer is stilll playing we are not having this conversation.

Everyone of the players mentioned except Jenkins are declining. And we upgraded the FS spot with Byrd and not to mention the signing of Marus Ball one of the best safties in the CFL.
Jimmy Graham will sign a long term deal at some point in the near future. I guess that doesn't count either.
Signing two of the elite playmakers in the NFL this offseason gets a D grade??

Roman Harper's replacement. Looks great in zone coverage and takes great angles to the ball carriers.
I wonder how this signing affects our draft plans with coverage inside linebackers. Guys like Mosley and Schazier.

Mosley looks the part of a good linebacker but Schazier has a much higher ceiling.
Freak athlete with great closing speed. His numbers at the combine were incredible.
He is the same size Navorro Bowman was when he entered the draft.
I don't understand why everyone is so down on this guy.

re: WR draft pick at #27 versus #58

We have lost three DBs and only signed one. Not to mention the guys that will be coming back from injury. Needless to say we are taking a corner at some point in the draft. Great news is that the draft us loaded at CB and also WR which is our other biggest need.
It looks like the WR class is a bit more top heavy compared to the CBs. There will lots of talent left in the 3rd round round of the draft.
Since we are so top heavy at DB we don't necessarily need to take one in the first round.
I could even see us taking a G or LB early in the draft. Grubbs, Evans, Lofton and Hawthorne all have huge cap numbers next year. At least two of these players will be taking a paycut or will be released after this season.

re: Any Chance Roger Goodell gives us back our 2nd round pick ?

If we had a top 5-10 pick he would have to consider giving it back. Obviously the punishment handed down has been harsh enough. What other reason would he have?
re: Is the Saints D-Unit the only one in the NFL w/o at least one Impact Player?
Posted by ATL Saints Fan on 9/18/12 at 10:37 am to CajunBandit
If we move Martez Wilson back to LB and draft a DE that can get after the QB that would he with the lack of speed in our front 7. If PRob or Malcom Jenkins would ever take the next step we would only need to add some youth/speed at SS.

I doubt we lose a game in the Dome. People in NOLA will be bitter and angry for the near future and will take some of it out on opposing teams. Our road games are going to be brutal. We could drop a few of those. I see us at least being competitive for the playoffs. As long as nothing happens to No.9 we should be ok. Look what happened to the Pats the year of Spygate.

So every team he played for had some form of a bounty system including the Falcons and Chiefs...interesting.

Against Baylor Mikel Leshoure looks like a beast in the red zone. Scored 3 TDs and he took over in the 4th quarter. I would be stoked to pick this kid up in the 2nd Round.
