re: Brooks on conference realignment
Posted by LSUinHouston on 8/14/11 at 8:56 pm
Your right that is some crazy logic. With that logic how did Miss St. and Ole Miss get in. The only thing stopping this is the #13. You need 14 or 16 to make it work from an alignment and scheduling standpoint in my opinion. Its going to happen when the right teams get the invitation that the conference sees that regular revenue, TV revenues, and quote unquote academic concerns are answered in expansion. But of course only the first two matter.
The Top 4 big conferences with 16 teams will make the NCAA happy. And then they may be ready to talk a playoff system.

The only reason its not happening is b/c the scheduling alignment would be messed up with 13 teams. They need 2 or 4 to join before anything of real significance can happen. Its probably going to happen in the upcoming years b/c it looks like if the NCAA can get 4 big conference of 16 teams, then they can discuss a try playoff system w/ 64 teams in the mix.
Little schools will be left out in the cold when that happens.

re: I'm an NFL owner. You be the player.

I agree. The owners take all the financial risk. All except the Packers are a private business. They don't have to open any books.
The problem is that this economy is bad. A lot of private business have had to make sacrifices in employee numbers and employee pay. I have had to take a pay cut and now the players should too. Owners are in business to make money.
The problem is, the old NFLPA rep Gene Upshaw has always told players never to give anything back. That is crazy. Economics dictates salary and benefits. And now w/ almost 4 dollar gas, inflation in food and commodities prices and higher cost all around, something has to give.
Owners are not in this business to break even or loose money. As long as fans will still pay obscene game prices for tickets, parking, and concessions, the league will be profitable. However, in cases like this, something is going to have to give and players are the biggest asset and expense for each team. Therefore, players will have to take a little less in my opinion.

Not going to happen. Kansas basketball to good for all those teams. And won't be left in a lackluster conference. They will move to the SEC.
re: Here's what you do if you're Texas, really.
Posted by LSUinHouston on 6/9/10 at 2:40 pm
In my opinion, this is all crazy talk.
The PAC-10 is the WAC-10 minus USC and maybe Oregon in football...
Why would any Texas school want to travel that far to go to games? Makes no since to call them student athletes. My bad, pawn Athletes that just make money for college programs but they don't get paid a dime (hush, hush, wink, wink).
Oh, so now they'll be known as....PAC-16 West, PAC-16 Texas. That is stupid. These clowns are just money hungry and don't give a you know what about these kids. Just use them.
I see the Nebraska point but then again, they won't win in the Big 10 (in my opinion) but it works geographically very well.

Great Points! This is the NFL trying again for a power grab....
This probably never came up when the Saints made the playoffs for the first time back in the Jim Mora's days when Who Dat was the phrase all over La.
But now they (NFL) wants Who Dat....
Isn't it ironic.....

Blame the Texans....in Week 1

I agree w/ your statement. When did CJ last play? He was black balled by the league. Sometimes its not the best player or best coaches. Its a business and perception is reality in most cases. Sad.

re: Can you read anything into JR's ear ring?

The thing about Russell is he has no help...
No coaching help and definitely no receiver help.
He has to do it ALL on his own. Great talent w/ no one to coach him up....

re: Dallas 10 - Denver 17 (Final)
Posted by LSUinHouston on 10/4/09 at 6:36 pm
Dallas Cowboy's have problems at these key positions:
QB - not good enough to be a starter.
WR - Roy Williams is too soft and doesn't make any plays. The other guys are ok but no one can stretch the field or make a super play like Brandon Marshall.
OL - Adams is way to slow at the end....he is a big for nothing at the end...

So you think he is a good starting QB? What were you watching....

I like Romo but he isn't a starting QB in this league.....
And bad calls by the offensive coordinator....Sam Hurd..... no Witten, no Choice....

re: Jets @ Texans: Who you got?
Posted by LSUinHouston on 9/13/09 at 7:31 pm
Dude...most of the time a rookie QB on the road gets blitzed out of his mind. At least that's what usually happens to Texans QB's. I take it they didn't put that blitz scheme into play today...I didn't watch the game but that is unexceptable to not rattle Sanchez in his first game. He maybe the real deal but I'll have to see....just my take.

I am not one usually not to like announcers but he's got to go. I too turn the channel when he is on. I want to hear sports...not his ridiculous opinions.....

I can't believe, the refs missed that out of bounds call. The ball clearly hit the Ill. player. When the even went to review the video. Unbelieveable. They flat out cheated a call.
But they held on.
But they held on.
re: Charles Scott?

Scott & Williams both need to watch Moreno...his legs don't stop when he gets hit....kinda like Dalton Hilliard use to run...maybe they should watch same ol game film of Dalton...
Bad Coaching, No Thinking, Bad Secondary Play
Posted by LSUinHouston on 11/29/08 at 11:31 am
As I watched another LSU give away, yesterday what upset me the most was how this team reverts back to ways of old teams with stupid play calls, stupid penalties, and just out right stupidity. I know these are harsh words but I'll back it up and even use some history.
First the play calling. I know Jefferson and Lee are freshman, but after taking the lead, they didn't do anything in the 3rd or 4th quarters. The play calling was horrible again. What happened to a screen pass or a bubble screen to the wideouts. Why do they keep calling roll out plays to the right side that lead to lost yards or incomplete passes or quarterback draws when the defense knows its coming??????
Second, the stupid penalties (#47) on 3rd and 29. Or the kicked ball (#84 Elam). Ridiculous! I firmly believe that maybe w/o those, we win the game.
Third, we know the secondary is bad...getting better but bad. How many times will they keep giving up TD when they KNOW...THEY KNOW that an opponent has to score one to win the game...ala Iowa in the Capitol One Bowl...or Arkansas again w/ Matt Jones when Saban was there. How many times will the secondary let people get behind them when its the only way they can win???????
Lastly, when Chad Jones gets the ball to mid field w/ 21 seconds left. WE CAN'T GET AT LEAST 10 TO 15 yards to set up our field goal kicker???????? RIDICULOUS...RIDICULOUS.....RIDICULOUS!!!!!!
