For cracklins, Charlie T's in Breaux Bridge is absolutely the best I've ever had. (They have some real nice chicken and green onion sausage, too.)
re: The new Tiger mascot... You like or dislike him???

I personally think this year's Mike(s) is/are the BEST in many, many years. Entertaining, interacts with the crowd (adults AND children), terrific dancer, pumps up the crowd, participates in cheers ... I mean, isn't that what a mascot is supposed to do?

Just bought some last week from Ralph's Market on Jones Creek.
Make these one evening, and with a quick microwave in the morning, you are set:
LOW CARB BREAKFAST “MUFFINS”
Preheat oven to 350º.
Fry 1 lb. bacon and chop.
While frying bacon, crack 12 eggs in a bowl and add:
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
2 cloves minced garlic
4 cups finely cut spinach
2 shredded zucchinis
Add chopped cooked bacon and stir all together.
Grease muffin tins and fill 3/4 with egg mixture and bake for 25 minutes.
They keep in fridge forever. Easy to grab on the go as a snack or a few for a quick breakfast.
If you do eat some dairy and carbs, add 1 cup mayo, 1 cup of half-and-half and a whole 16 oz. package of shredded cheese to the mix and only fill tins half way.

Did anyone go to the last aTm game in Tiger Stadium? That was brutal!
Afternoon kickoff. Early September. Record heat. No one could stay hydrated, including the fans.
There should be a law against August/Sept day games in Baton Rouge.

This!
It was my first game to attend in Tiger Stadium after moving to Baton Rouge. Didn't know I needed to arrive early because I'd never witnessed a tailgate frenzy like Baton Rouge can do, so had to park over a mile from the stadium. Was pretty proud I found a spot and u-turned into it right before another car. After the game I found my car's wiper blades (both!) bent at a 90-degree angle. That was the icing on the cake after the literal hot-mess of the game. Bummer!

Christina's - Thursday lunch only - intersection of Somerulos and St. Charles
Seriously good fried chicken!
Seriously good fried chicken!
Not crowded until around the 6th inning, and even then not too bad. Saturday night most likely will draw a bigger crowd.
Met my spouse after work today at Acme. Every TV on the game, plus sound. Had a great meal, and even though I paid the check around the time extra innings began and people were waiting for a table, the wait staff assured us we could stay as long as we liked. The crowd around us was into the game and cheering like crazy. You might try this place.

... was there trying to persuade La'el to decommit from LSU and come to Bama. (Heard this from one of the teachers there.)
Went Oct. 18 and had a terrific meal. Highly recommend the spinach salad with goat cheese, toasted pecans, Granny Smith apples and balsamic dressing. Adequate gumbo. Anything from the wood fire grill will be tasty, and fish dishes were good. The heirloom tomato salad has freshwater mozzarella made onsite. Everything was fresh and seasoned well. Good wine selection, too. They comp guests a glass of Spanish Cava at the beginning of the meal. Save room for dessert. Got appetizer through dessert with a couple glasses of wine and only spent a little over a bill. Very nice evening!

I was fortunate enough to see "Sweetness," Walter Payton, playing for Jackson State back in the day. He was amazing then, and continued to be throughout his pro career. Definitely one of the best ever!
