I could dig it!

I think that gold is sold in troy oz. That would be 14.6oz per what we consider a (avoirdupois, 16oz) pound.

200 tons x 2000 lbs/ton x 14.6oz x $1000/oz = $5.84B

Then again... it could be metric tons.
200 tons x 1000kg/ton x 2.2lb/kg x 14.6oz/lb x $1000/oz =$6.42B

Meh... $6B sounds close enough either way...

I'm not sure if we'll have higher structural unemployment, but there are a lot of people with very specialized skill sets that will find it hard to be similarly overpaid. (finance/lending/housing/construction/NASA engineers) Those people will work again, they just may never be as overvalued to the economy as they once were.
Remember when html "web developers" were fetching 3-figure per hour rates?
We should have socialized car insurance. A public option would bring down costs.
Can't take anyting Kurgman says seriously anymore. He's has taken every possible position on the recovery at one time or another in the last 6-months. All of them. No matter what happens he will be right because he's predicted everything from the recession is over, to impending doom and all in between. He's a hack.

Uhh not really. There are plenty of nice, upscale neighborhoods close to downtown Houston. And several very good public schools close to downtown as well. Can't say the same for BR.
A few years you could have said the same for HOUTX. The Heights is now one of the trendiest places in Houston. Ten years ago it was crime-ridden ghetto. People used to look at me like I was crazy for living there because of the preception of crime. Everyone wanted to live in Katy, Spring, or Sugarland. (Sound familiar)

Now the Heights is cleaned up. It's trendy (bleeccch). Everyone's tired of the commutes and incovience of the 'burbs. And folks how I can afford to live there. I sure do miss the freaks and musicians for neighbors better than the yuppies.

Apparently a large percentage of Baton Rouge residents live in abject terror of the thought that a black person might move nearby. To avoid this they have all decided to move to Livingston Parish and contentedly sit in nightmare traffic for 45 minutes in each direction every day.
BR is becoming like a mini-Houston. Without the loops of course. Denham=Katy. Just a lot smaller.
As a homebrewer that's short on bottles... I love it!
