His arguments would hold more weight if he were a self-professing atheist or agnostic.

Yuval Harari is not a religious Jew. It's fairly clear from his interviews and writing that he's agnostic/atheist. He tends not to self-apply labels.

The same source video makes this fairly clear starting at this point: Youtube
He talks about this for a few minutes from the linked starting point.

Here, he differentiates between two notions of God. One that questions the mystery of existence, and the other that provides concrete answers for how to live your life (e.g. dress code).

It's clear that he does not believe in any notion of God that has handed down concrete answers (the God of Jews, Christians, and Muslims, nor the Gods of Hinduism, nor any other).
If you actually care about what he stated, it's worth listening to more than just a few cherrypicked seconds that distort the intent of the statement.

Here's the source video, starting at the point that leads up to the statement: Youtube

What he's describing is that through human history, groups of people have organized around stories in order to form solidarity (for survival). And, competing groups of people with conflicting stories all dismiss the stories of the other.

He wasn't flat-out saying that Jesus is fake news. He's saying that many groups of people (e.g. Jews, Muslims, Hindus.. everyone but Christians) think that Jesus as the son of God is "fake news." Just like Christians think that the essential stories of Islam, Hinduism, etc. aren't correct.

It's worth listening through 29:30 in the video, where he describes in an interesting way how corporations and governments are just stories too.
LSMSA class of 2000 here.

Listen to those who actually went there, or talk to the school itself to see if it fits for your child.

I consider my two years there the most foundational for my entire education. It saved me from an absolutely mediocre education at my local high school.

I'm not aware of any other school in the state that offers/offered its students courses like:
- Differential, Integral, Multi-Variable, and Vector Calculus (4 different courses)
- Differential Equations
- Modern Algebra
- Intro to programming with C++ (may be a different language now)
- Data Structures
- Assembly (it was a one-off, special course taught by a great teacher who is still there)
- Operating Systems (actual design of OS's, this is usually a junior/senior-level course in college)

The list could go on and on. The staff there was (and I'm sure still is) amazing. Many of them hold PhD's, and it really opens the students' eyes to what could lie ahead academically if that's the route they'd like to take.

After LSMSA, I found that the residential aspect became a huge advantage for me. As a freshman at college, I already had two years of experience living on-campus. I saw many around me flounder with the newfound freedom and responsibility of college life. LSMSA was a great "on-ramp" to living away from home, since it was a well-controlled environment that still gave us some freedom (but not too much).

If your child feels constrained by their current school, LSMSA should be considered.
Damn dude, you have me stumped.

From this site: LINK

Try what they list there, specifically:
Go to Start -> Control panel -> Flash Player -> Advanced

Delete all "Site Data and Settings"

If that doesn't work, or nothing else on that page works, I'm really stumped :(
You can try to use some Firefox plugins that force the video to play with HTML5, like "YouTube ALL HTML5", but I don't have personal experience with that.

Otherwise, you can just try to use Chrome for shits and giggles to see if that makes it better.

Also, make sure that your version of Firefox is up to date.
Give that a shot. If that still doesn't work, there might be a way to make YouTube switch to the HTML5 player in Firefox.
What browser are you using?

It sounds like it's something wrong with your Flash player, if YouTube is using Flash to play videos for you.

When you right-click on the video, do you see "About the HTML5 Player" as the last option on the pop-up menu? If you are already using the HTML5 Player, maybe switching back to Flash is the right thing to do.

Where did you get that keyboard? The PCjr was ridiculed from the outset for its chiclet keyboard, and that ain't it.

I wasn't even in pre-school at the time, but I'm sure I remember it having a "normal" keyboard, not that weird chiclet keyboard I'm seeing on Google images.

My parents must have gone the extra mile to upgrade out of that weirdness, lol.
The IBM PCjr (released in '83), which introduced me to Sierra's King's Quest (not my photo):

According to Wikipedia, the PCjr was a commercial flop. This makes me sad, because I thought the machine was amazing.

I am an old.
Use a simpler example to figure out how to do this:

A is a 1:2 chance
B is a 1:4 chance

How much more likely is A than B? Reverse engineer how to get that answer.

Most people don't want to play a game like that now. The only reason they played Ultima was because it was their only option.

Deep down, I know that. :wah:

You ever play in BloodClan?

Yes, I had a character in that guild back on the old IPY.

Are you saying that IPY has 1100 active players on it after just 1 day of uptime? That's crazy.
UO was/is probably the best MMO of all time. All types of players were thrown into the same environment. If someone wanted to be relatively safe, they could stay in towns and make deals there. If someone wanted to take a risk and go outside of town, they could find safety in numbers, or just wing it.

Also, I hate how almost every other MMO uses the "level" system to gain skills... pretty dumb. UO's independent point gain for each skill and stat is a great system that makes sense.

Let's see what KOTR and Blizzard's Titan have to say!
Diablo 3 taking another year...

UO: Hybrid

UO. It's an old game, but now there are free servers out there. This server has the most people on it... it's almost like the old days.
Thanks for the advice... doing that training now.

BTW, I think the minmatar ships look cool.
Minmatar actually. And I thought I was big timing it for collecting 2M so far :wah:

Just now, out of nowhere, one of the GM's PM'd me wondering how I'm enjoying the game so far and gave me a few good pointers on how to skill up faster. Really cool that they help out the noobs.
I'm proficient in Basic Turret Control, Basic Active Shield Tanking, and I'm a Basic Field Technician.

I'm unstoppable.

If anyone on here is around the Hadaugago system, let me know!

It's worth a try. Even with the "new" tutorials built in... it's still not very obvious what to do from time to time.

But, if you like the idea of space travel and a huge playground, you should like it.
I downloaded the trial last night and I've been going through the training missions. It's actually a lot of fun so far.

And I respect the "no carebear" aspect to the game. That's what I loved about Ultima Online.

I'm downloading the free trial now. I want to be one of the guys getting cleared by the corpse bulldozer.
