When I'm playing a video and start moving the mouse around it slows down and the sound gets real staticy. Everything is fine as long as I don't touch the mouse. If there's no video playing everything works like normal. I use youtube to listen to background music while I'm doing other things, like browsing TD, so this is really annoying. I ran spybot yesterday and that didn't seem to help. This problem just started last week. Any ideas on how to fix this?

What browser are you using?

It sounds like it's something wrong with your Flash player, if YouTube is using Flash to play videos for you.

When you right-click on the video, do you see "About the HTML5 Player" as the last option on the pop-up menu? If you are already using the HTML5 Player, maybe switching back to Flash is the right thing to do.

I'm using firefox. Just tried right clicking a video and clicked on about Adobe flash player. Looks like I'm not using the current version. I never got an update reminder, guess I'll try that.

Give that a shot. If that still doesn't work, there might be a way to make YouTube switch to the HTML5 player in Firefox.

I installed the newest version of Adobe flash. It's not helping.

You can try to use some Firefox plugins that force the video to play with HTML5, like "YouTube ALL HTML5", but I don't have personal experience with that.

Otherwise, you can just try to use Chrome for shits and giggles to see if that makes it better.

Also, make sure that your version of Firefox is up to date.

There is an option on youtube to switch to html5 but it didn't seem to help. Chrome isn't any better either. I wonder if I downloaded something I shouldn't have.

My graphics driver just crashed then came back on. I ran McAfee and everything was good. Now I'm listening to youtube and everything is running smoothly. The only difference is I did not open aim or yahoo. This is strange but it works now at least.

Damn dude, you have me stumped.

From this site: LINK

Try what they list there, specifically:
Go to Start -> Control panel -> Flash Player -> Advanced

Delete all "Site Data and Settings"

If that doesn't work, or nothing else on that page works, I'm really stumped :(

I'll try that if it happens again, thanks. My computer problems tend to be weird like this but they usually end up working themselves out somehow.

My boss was having a similar problem with Firefox/youtube except his video would stop playing if he didn't move the mouse.

Who uses AIM and Yahoo now a days? (Just asking!!) Why don't you use one program that handles both?

Pidgin

Some LSU employees use Yahoo to communicate between offices. Long time ago, I used Trillian!
