Penn State band, I HATE YOU
Good story...I always like to learn where stuff comes from.

I guess I got tired of hearing the chant downtown in Orlando on New Year's Eve...one obnoxious bitch would start with "We are" and someone else would finish with a "Penn State"...and the girl would ALWAYS say "thank you" at the end of the cheer...

And yeah, I guess getting Tiger Baited could become annoying too

Didn't make the game so don't know if it was done in Orlando but at PSU games the 'We are...Penn State' is chanted back and forth then ended with 1 side of the stadium yelling 'thank you' and the other 'you're welcome'.

At home games it is played almost continually when Penn State has the ball and is driving. I can understand why an opposing team would hate it though.
Field in the 96 (I think) outback bowl with Auburn was a mess as well. It poured all day. Waterfalls literally down the steps. So much standing water that any tackle slid an extra 5-10 yards. Turf ripped apart every play. Will see if I can find some video to post.

Would love a home and home with LSU. Think it's long overdue. Most of the Penn State fans who were at the game have been posting what great fans LSU has and what a good time they had- despite the field.

Donny- This is the game I wanted since mid November. Watched the LSU vs Arkansas game and was rooting like hell for you guys so that this match up would occur.

Have always wanted to play LSU and could never understand why the 2 schools didn't set up a few games like we did with Bama. Was down at an LSU - Florida game a few yrs ago. Always wanted to see death valley. Had a great time and hopefully make it back there soon.

Donny- sorry it didn't reach the humor level. Sarcasm doesnt translate well online. No offense was meant at all and hell I appreciate the humor of the posts. Hell what's been posted here is very low key compared to what Ohio State and Pitt fans spew. Drinks on me next time PSU and LSU play. Hopefully it won't take 30 years between games again...

Donny- there's no elitist or anti southern attitude intended in any way. Sorry to point out a trend. I guess the 'smack talk' is only allowed one way. What's showing is your hypersensitivity. Good luck to LSU. Hope the field holds up for the game. Looked terrible in the Miami- Wisconsin game.

It's JoePa.....has been that way forever (as most LSU fans like to point out how he knew Moses personally). Yes that is the official spelling. Only down south is Joe spelled without an 'e'......but I guess when you think go is spelled 'geaux' then it's a moot point.

Doesn't really drive that much- up until he broke his leg a few years ago he walked from his house to and from work everyday across campus...... The same modest house he's lived in since he came to Penn State in the 1950's.

As for WW 1- close. Ended about 8 years before he was born.

Don't know about yelling to get off his lawn but did tell some female driver who ran a stop sign on campus that he had her license plate # and if she did it again he'd turn her in to the police. Her husband came over all indignant about JoePa lecturing her and said 'hey- that's my wife!' to which JoePa immediately said- 'that's your problem'.

Have you been to Valley Forge? Got 3 inches of snow today and now sleeting. He tell George he had it good and should have seen how he grew up in Brooklyn........

He wouldn't know who the hell MC Hammer was. But he could tell you how he played Vince Lombardi's team growing up in Brooklyn and actually played bball against Bob Cousy while at Brown. Close enough (and true).

Can still coach, graduate 85% of his players, use the motto 'success with honor' (and mean it), and win bowl games (23-11-1).

Can't demonstrate onside kicks anymore......

Oh- can spell his name correctly.... JoePa ...... ;)

re: Chances of Saban to UF?

What makes some of you think Saban ends up at Penn State?

Can't see him at Florida or ever leaving Alabama really. He has the perfect set up there.

OSU this decade: 10 bowl appearances, 3-3 in BCS games, 7 BCS game appearances (counting Oregon), 1 National Championship, 3 NCG appearances, 6 conference titles

PSU this decade: 6 bowl appearances, 1-1 in BCS games, 2 BCS game appearances, 0 National Championships, 0 NCG appearances, 2 conference titles

We've carried this conference for the past decade. Before we "collapsed" in those bowl games, we had to make it through the Big 10. That includes you losers.

The omission of facts by OSU....it never gets old....

OSU '10 bowl appearances' ie osu code to avoid saying we went 4-5 (Oregon loss pending)

- Humiliating blowout loses to Florida and LSU not to mention losses to Texas and mighty South Carolina....twice.

-Is an osu fan really bragging about BCS appearances???? I figured even bucknuts would be embarrassed to bring up BCS. Win over mighty Kansas State and ND (but frankly- who hasn't beaten overrated ND in bowls the past 15 years or so). Yeah you beat Miami when the officials gifted you the win at the end. Frankly should have been another L.

You nicely include PSU's worst 5 years in the history of the school in your selective stats. Lets go back to '93 or so since PSU joined the small minded B11-

PSU 9-3 in bowls
osu 6-8 in bowls

On behalf of the rest of the B11- PLEASE stop "carrying" the conference. We can't afford any more of your 'greatness'.

I apologize to the LSU posters that this osu-PSU garbage has spilled over onto your site but these are the same bucknuts who flood our site every bowl season telling us how we have to root for them "for the conference". Then they go to sites like this and trash PSU.

You'd think a fan base that hasn't EVER (in the history of their self proclaimed greatness) beaten an SEC team would lay low on SEC boards.......
Well it's osu attitude that makes us laugh. Try not collapsing in a bowl game. Hell come back once you beat an SEC team......
That's what we heard from Florida State......and Texas AM......and Texas..........and Tennessee......twice. Blah blah blah.

Does Joe Pa stand on the sidelines...
Dumb shite. All Joe Pa has done is win a lot of football games. Scale of importance 1 to 10 in life it is about a 4. If you think it is more than a 4 your are F*ed UP.

Yeah he's won a lot of football games but he's done much more. Taking his kids/grandkids out of this- he's raised millions of dollars for the University and specifically the library which bears his name. Where else is a University library named after the football coach? His latest graduation rate for the football players- about 85%. He has insisted his players get an education. SuePa has tutored players in English Lit. He's made players do book reports over the summer. He's suspended players from big games and bowls because even though they were academically eligible they did not perform as he thought they should have.

He and SuePa have been big supporters of the campus spiritual center on and are big fundraisers/organizers for the Catholic center on campus. He and Sue have been very involved in the Pennsylvania special olympics which are held on Penn State's campus every summer.

You know him as a football coach (and judging from some posts here some of you don't even know much about him as a coach either). He and Sue do much more but don't go around calling press conferences and promoting themselves all the time. Sorry to those respectful LSU posters here but some on this board are beginning to rival Ohio State fans in pathetic behavior.

re: Penn St.. vs. SEC

Penn State plays Alabama the next 2 years. In Tuscaloosa next year.
Since there aren't many posters who have been to many games at both Tiger Stadium and Beaver Stadium to accurately compare, how about an internal SEC matchup? Which is louder Tiger Stadium or Florida?
Beaver Stadium is named after James A Beaver who was a governor of Pennsylvania 1887-1891 and president of the Board of Trustees (not former coach).

Happy Valley nickname seems to come from the time of the Great Depression as the area was not hit as hard as the rest of the country. It's stuck ever since.

Was in Tiger stadium a few years ago for the game against Florida. Loved the trip. The stadium on that day was not as loud as big games in Happy Valley- but it was not a night game (and LSU lost). Can hardly use 1 game to rate any stadium. Both are very difficult places for opposing teams but clearly night games and big time match ups take it to the next level.

SNA not piped in- played by the PSU band and chanted by the students/fans when on offense.

That chant would never fly in Beaver Stadium. You're thinking of Wisconsin who does that between different groups of their student section.

There are a few chants- seven nation army is one of them.
