I think you're right on Blue. However, when you throw in contact, then durability and ball security come into play. This is just pure conjecture, but I predict that Hill will factor into this conversation as the thick of the SEC race is heating up.

You've faced so many offenses like ours...

Y'all's lowest scoring wins were against Ole Miss and Vandy - ON THE ROAD! Two losing teams that are a combined 2-13 in the SEC. Only other road game? - A loss to Bama. Toughest environment your offense will face - well, you can fill in the blank here. Thousands of inebriated cajuns on holiday break...Nuf sed!!

Their open when JL in but covered when JJ in

If we assume for a moment that this statement has any merit whatsoever, with a defense and punter like ours, I'd much prefer a QB who makes good decisions (although at times too carefully - or slowly) to one who makes poor decisions rather quickly (see Alabama film). One results in an occasional sack (or a tuck and run for 10+ yards). The other in a turnover. Was it Lombardi who said when you pass, 3 things can happen and 2 are bad? Well maybe JJ knows that there's a 4th thing that can happen and he's not compelled to throw up prayers under duress. I like both of our QBs, but give JJ the credit he deserves.

Why is he playin on offense? We need him on the other side.

Yeah, we don't have enough safeties. I guess if it weren't for his exceptional precise route running ability, outstanding hands, and his fearless ability to catch over the middle, he might be a candidate for converting to defense. I didn't see the Oregon game on TV (was at the game), but I heard Musberger commented "welcome to big time college football" when Landry got drove by a linebacker over the middle. Well Brent?!!...welcome to BIG TIME SEC FOOTBALL...you little dickweed...

Landry got planted

He didn't drop the ball. Remember that. And he won't be afraid to go across the middle next time. Just wait....

Jarvis Landry. Just throwing it out there because he hasn't been said yet. If his reps hadn't diminished because of the incident, I would believe it too

Shhh....he's trying to lay low. Learn this "Les"son: "Best not to talk about the dark horse until the race has begun."

thats crazy. shep is the most dynamic player on the team with the ball in his hands. problem - no one can get the ball to him in stride and position to make moves.

They're all good players with varying skill sets. I know it's college, but no one would argue that Reggie Bush isn't a top notch athlete with abundant skill - hell, let's say dynamic. Yet he doesn't necessarily match up well to any specific position in the NFL. Hybrid maybe? RS may well be the best athlete on LSU's roster and not be in the top 3 receivers. Randle is a prototype. Landry was born to play receiver. His skills (quickness, balance, hands, etc) suit that specific slot position. OBJ, what little I've seen looks like a fluid RS with a little more comfort at route running and catching. Most aren't knocking RS, just praising others. The cupboard is filling up, enjoy it!
To the contrary, Saban also prescribes to solid D and special teams, conservative O. Two of the highest paid HC's in college football. Must be something to it.

I think he'll be a little longer getting on the field (in this game) than he would have had his name not surfaced in the brawl. Just for the sake of rewarding those kids that have been doing the right thing on and off the field with a start or early action. If Les wants to win, he can't keep him off the field. Landry will have an impact on Saturday night.

IMO Tolliver was never a NFL caliber receiver. Big receivers in the league need to be really physical and he isn't. Unless you're lightining in a bottle like Moss was when he entered the league, they're gonna want you to go toe to toe with big physical safeties and LBs. Compared to say a Colston for example(who still has to fight through the bruises and nicks each season), I don't believe he'd be nearly as durable if used in the same capacity. Yeah, it's conjecture, but so is most of this talk. Good college player though.
Homer? Oh no mes amis. Homer is in north LA. Dat's where dey make dem Cajun Fryers. Houma might be closer. Down by da bayou. Choot'em Slinga, choot'em again!!!
Landry commented in an interview that he was getting alot of work in the slot. Go ahead and mark him down as a fifth receiver. Prediction: if he gets on that field and gets a few touches, he will blow you away. Fact is, one of the reasons LSU decided to offer Tyrann Mathieu was because he was the only corner in camp that could cover Jarvis Landry one on one (and Landry was a sophomore at the time). Lightning quick and hands like spiderman! And he's not afraid of a little contact. Hey Fightin' Tigers, fight all the way!!!

Ever since the Feds locked up my Dianabol supplier, I just haven't been myself.

Nah, merely a description of the effortles change of direction he has at top speed. Reminded a little of watching Trevon Reed in HS. I'm very secure in my masculinity. I'm certain most mature members got my drift, but thanks. I'll be carefaul to choose my words a little more carefully next time so as to not offend the occasional juvey, dude.

GoldMember, To answer the question of the last FR WR to make an impact: AJ Green hauled in 57 passes for 1217 yards and eight touchdowns as a freshman at GA. Julio Jones set Alabama freshman records for receptions (58), receiving yards (924) and receiving touchdowns (4). There you go, two very recent ones who made the defenses think twice about man coverage. It could happen, but give 'em time.

Never seen OBJ in person, but film looks like two different styles. IMO, OBJ has speed and smooth hips. JL has quickness and shiftiness. Both have good hands and superb open field vision. JL will get you the tough yards and catch with a man hanging all over him, but he won't be a deep threat. OBJ can change direction at full speed and can potentially take it the distance from anywhere on the field. JL will make the QBs look better and move the chains. JL is a lot stronger than his metrics would make you believe. Looks like either guy would make an excellent punt returner some day.
Bigsike, you are very obviously an immensely ignorant individual. While that ignorance likely pervades every aspect of your life, it most definitely affects your perspective on this particular issue. You have to play in a game to get thrown out. Gavin is the antithesis of "thug". You are the definition of a ignorance.
If not LSU, then another big school will pick him up provided he gets any kind of decent instruction in JUCO. Or else he'll get drafted and enter the farm leagues. Either way, he's actually showing his maturity by his candid evaluation of his own future. It's definitely in baseball. His dream out of HS was to either play major college baseball or enter the minors. Regardless of how it turns out, you can't blame him for following his dream. I know enough to not doubt him. He got the magic stick!
Anyone who has enough information on Gavin and doesn't think he has the potential to compete on the major college baseball level is a baseball idiot. I've seen him hit HR's that could bring rain. Can he hit a curve ball? Yes...out of the park at times. Can he hit for average? Lead his HS team his junior year(a team loaded with talent - 5 kids in college ball). Average dropped last year due to his attempting to beef up his power numbers and chasing pitches up in the zone (the scouts were saying they liked him as a power guy). Definitely has some refining to do, but his combination of speed and power is rare. He's a power guy that can squeeze out infield singles. And his 1st cousin played for over a decade in the majors and has two world championship rings. Loves baseball and would have given up football in a heartbeat if the right offer had been on the table. If you knew his whole story, you would realize how special of a person and athlete he is.

I saw Broussard in person as a Jr and was impressed. He was only about 90% and running a fever and still dominated a very capable hitting team. He stayed low in the zone, had good command, and seemed to get stronger as the game progressed. I enjoyed his performance even though my own son's team took the loss. With this kid and Matty Ott on the same team the year before I thought how fortunate the Holy Cross fans must feel.
