First, this is not to knock any of our players. Sure, we think they couldve done better probably but they put forth the effort and won.

I'd like to see what the board thinks on the progress of particular players.
Players I was impressed with:
-Peterson: In a world of his own.
-Cutrera: Showed why he is considered a starter.
-Coleman: Fit in nicely at LB; playmaker.
-Riley: Seemed to have a solid game in coverage as well as run support.
-Toliver: Duh
-LaFell: Didnt get a lot of looks but was mistake free.
-Williams: 7.3 yard average!

Players I'd like to see more from:
-Chad Jones: All-World talent didnt show.
-Gary Crowton: Can do better for sure, whether it was on purpose or not.
-Hawkins: Decent in pass def, but slow to act in run support.
-Alem: What happened?
-Jefferson: Great during off-season, but didnt look great throwing the ball. However, he was turnover free which is awesome, but he needs to stop taking hits!

Feel free to elaborate, debate, or add-to.....

All-World talent

5 stars mean nothing in college. He hasnt showed me shite.

You need to put Jefferson in the other group. He was 11-19, Dickson dropped 2 passes, and he threw maybe 2 away while under pressure which is an improvement over Lee. That leaves like 5 bad passes on the night. Its not his fault Miles wants to run up the middle %80 of the time.

I agree with comment on Jefferson "taking hits". If not this week, then against ULL, we need some backup QB work.

Other than a horrible missed tackle then laying on the ground, I don't think he even touched anyone. Shocked and confused.

i thought he held the ball too long on some plays;but his throwing the ball was just fine.

But it's a fricking travesty that Russell Shepard didn't see the field for the rant.

I guess I worded thatbadly. What I mean, is on a lot of passing plays I thought he was either looking at only one wide receiver or looked a little in-decisive (which resulted in holding the ball too long).

Cole- Good assessment, but I would add as a negative- Helton- you are not going to be a starting punter if you average 32 yards a kick...

I agree with that. Also I would add Josh Downs to the list of positives. He impressed me with his first step and push. Downs and Nevis should be our DTs in obvious passing situations IMO.

True. I forgot about his performance. Definetly have to get better punting.

You can't blame Crowton for the I formation run up the middles... thats Miles.

let me give you jeffersons stats. he was 11/19 for 173 yds and 3 tds. no ints plus he had two drops of catchable balls by dickson and toliver. my ? is what more do you want from a 19 yr old kid on the road 2600 miles from home. some of you need to take a step back and look at the good from the game. theres work to do, but we got a win to build on.

WATCHED GAME 3 TIMES:

Peterson: baller, but WRs can beat him regularly ..still some holes in his coverage game

Cutrera: best game ever for him, but he still takes horrible angles to the ballcarrier and it costs him

Coleman: always around the ball, brings toughness to our D

Riley: Coverage skills need a lot of work, but that's across the board will all of our LBs. We're weak in the middle of the field in the passing game

Toliver: a miss-match on a DB every time, should be used more

LaFell: Complete player. He blocks well, runs well, good atheleticism, great routes, and is a leader.

Williams: His burst looks like it's back. Still needs to run with more authority.

Chad Jones: Disappointed, but he'll be fine. Too good not to be.

Gary Crowton: I pray he was intentionally not showing much and that makes sense. I hope he thinks JJ is up to executing the full playbook.

Hawkins: Above WRs have no problems beating him. He is nothing more than solid at best...just an average talent.

Alem: Too light to be consistent against the run. He'll be fine rushing the passer as long as he doesn't overrun the play, which he does often.

Jefferson: Agressive yet doesn't make dumb mistakes (other than the one pass in the flats taht was almost picked when he was faced with a safety). I love how he competes...just needs to be able to understand what the secondary is doing and effectively check-off and go through his progressions properly -- which is the hardest thing for QBs to learn

Ciron: Critical false starts are not acceptable from a Senior

Hitt: Another Senior who appeared to be the weak link on what was supposed to be a strong O-Line. Washington might be one of the weakest D-Lines we face all year and we struggled against them more than we should have - Hitt was owned the most.

Dickson: Great blocker and receiver. Love him.

Scott: Looked so-so. Some runs were Scott-like..others had you scratching your head. He'll be fine.

Jai: I thought he was in good position as much as any of our CBs..but he needs to make plays now when he gets in position to do so.

B. Taylor: You can tell he's still learning the Safety position...was out of place a lot.

McCray: Nice to have a Senior in the secondary but he is perhaps a step too slow still.

Hatcher: Brings the wood and plays faster than I thought he could out there. Against run teams I want him at SS.

Trindon: Still fast but doesn't make the cuts to beat people in the open field...has to run around them or he's ineffective.

DeAngelo: I was more disappointed not to see him some at TE than people were about Shep not playing.

Chavis: Didn't expect a complete turn-around, especially since we have youth at DL, an average LB corp, and youth in the secondary. Just hope he keeps the players believing in him and can get them to progressively play better and learn and adjust. We have three more games to get the D better before going to UGA... I like that...they'll get better. The 3rd and Chavis jinx is freaky though.

Brick & Cooper: Haven't seen their stamp on the D yet.

Helton: He didn't show me anything for me to believe he'll get better. Very disappointing, especially since Les said he "can really boom it"

Jasper: I thought his kickoffs appeared slightly better. Most were deep for him and had good hang time. I think we'll be fine with him replacing Colt in the PK game too...he gets down the field and tries to make tackles which shows how competitive he is...so you would think nerves wouldn't effect him in FG situations.

T-Bob: Played well. Directed the OL and made some nifty blocks in space against LBs and a nose tackle who was right on top of him much of the game. Showed some good quickness too.

Dworacyk: Good first game, plays nasty.

Barksdale: Strong at times. First game was solid.

Murphy: Good effort on that one run.

C. Mitchell: Don't think we'll rely much on him.

Randle: He'll get better with experience..sure looks the part. If he makes that block on the DB on that run by Keiland then Keiland scores. Lafell would have made it, but then again he's a senior.

RJ Jackson: Solid blocker and I thought he looked as fast as I've ever seen him. He could be a pleasant surprise this season.

Alexander: Looks as good as I've seen him in 4 yrs, but he plays like a space clogger. Doesn't move well enough.

Nevis: When he can beat his man off the ball he makes a lot of plays, but he also gets blocked regularly. He's so compact it's easy for OLs with longer arms to get into him off the line and neutralize him.

Downs: Will be our next Dorsey. Best we have off the snap and he sprints - not jogs - every play until the whistle blows. Love him.

Aghayere: Thought he looked faster than I feared he may be. Just needs to get instinctive and needs to play harder. Looks like he went through the motions several plays.

Lavar: Like his length. Think he's going to be a good one.

Clement: looked skinny for his frame on that punt coverage.

Shepperd: some good hits and some wiffs. Our LBs take terrible angles to ball carriers, regularly.

Woods: Played with a good motor and looked faster than I remember. He should have a good senior year, especially if the light bulb goes off and he grows a mean streak.

Coverage teams: Several looked fast...when you look at the athletes we have on kick coverage you would sure think that our defense will get advantageous field position situations against opposing offenses, especially if Jasper can hang it up and get it inside the 10. We are down there making first contact with the ball carrier often around the 15 yd line ..if we can do that regularly then its better than touchbacks
