I tried to get the ball back and increase the lead before the half. It didn't work out and it happens.

We would have gotten the ball back with less than 10 seconds.

I'm not sure how much time was left, but if we force a punt and Trindon returns it for a score Miles looks like a genius and you are praising him right now.

I haven't watched a replay, but even if we'd stopped them on third down wouldn't they have just run out the clock and not punted?

It would have been really close to zero.

You guys might be right, I didn't watch a replay or anything, but I think I can remember reading something where Miles said that was his intention.

Never would have happened. UW's coach would have surely told their punter to punt it out of bounds.

And if Miles put our least sure handed punt returner in the game in that situation I would have been stunned.

I know what his intention was. If we had one more time out, and it wasn't a 3rd and one, and we had a QB who was seasoned in the two minute drill and had little chance of throwing a pick six, I would have agreed.

Anyone who has played Madden for any length of time can understand this.

Same thing I say ... We had some momentum, wanted the ball back to get a quick 7pts or 3pts before the half. We came up here to play, not to run the clock out. It didn't work out that way. Looking back at what we know now, I would have let Washington just run out the clock.

Time outs aren't like rollover minutes. They don't carry over to the second half.

Washington's 1st play 12 yards, their 2nd play 5 yards and we call a time out. Did not make sense then or now. I would have understood a time out if they were unable to move the ball.

the timeout was absolutely retarded...washington had the ball 3rd down and 2 with 45 seconds left....even if they don't make the first down, they can either a.) call a timeout themselves to get in FG range b.) run out the clock and punt with 5 seconds left

Dude, there would have been like 5 seconds on the clock and we would have been in our own red zone. That isn't even worth the risk of trying to catch a punt.

There is no defending this.

You're right. At the time, I wanted to score again. I wanted the ball back, as I'm sure Miles and Crowton did.

Looking back at how it panned out gaining 9 yards on the first two downs, we probably should have just let them run the clock out. Probably part of the thinking was that we figured Washington would try to score (or at least pass to try to get into FG range), which on the first two plays of that series, they actually looked to be running the clock out. I think we thought they would throw the ball on second/third down, which they did not. It was only after our timeouts that they decided to try to move the ball.

I'll never get upset for our coaches "wanting more." Did it end up being the wrong decision? Yeah, probably, but not a blatant bad decision.

Also, it may very well have been LSU wanting to try to get a punt block before half as we haven't had a chance to run punt block this year and right before half is the greatest time to try a punt block when the punt return wouldn't matter and you probably wouldn't even need to put someone back to receive the punt.

yeah, i didnt understand that either. they had been driving the ball at will. im all for being aggressive, but that wasnt a good time.

so when hes being aggresive and trying to get the ball back for a slim but possible chance at points (the definition of aggressive) its bad but when he tries to go "conservitive" and establish a running game its bad....he can never win with some people

man i don't know what these people are seeing. if you can't see miles is messing with the play calling you are crazy. there was a sports caster on a national station last week that said miles is only one of a very few thats still running the power I offense. Hello why is that , it's because he is not going to let coach crowton have control of the play calling. and now is going to start messing with chavis too. it's like he don't think these guys will run the offense and defense he wants so he has to keep on them. get a life and look past your nose!!!
