re: Orlando Sentinal article

Exactly! Just got back and wife and I have sworn we will never do this bowl again unless it is in a different stadium. The neighborhood was horrible, the parking lots we paid for passes in were dirt and gravel lots ankle deep in mud, the stadium is horrible...We've done Chik-fil-A, Sugar, Independence, Cotton, etc. and all were better run bowls. I know they couldn't do anything about the weather, but they have to know that there is always a chance of rain that could affect a non-domed stadium bowl game and they should have done more (or anything at all) to plan for it. It just seems like the organizers and the City of Orlando rely completely on the payout and the theme parks to justify the Capital One's reputation as a premier bowl game and they don't do enough when it comes to the fan experience at the game itself. I agree with the previous post that said that barring some major changes, the Cotton Bowl is poised to take over the Capital One's spot in the pecking order. I was disappointed to hear from the bellman at our hotel that - according to him - the City of Orlando is not planning on building a new stadium, but instead it is planning yet another renovation of the old one, including synthetic turf. I don't know what can be done to improve that rusty eyesore with a renovation in one year. Worst bowl experience ever (of many).

Yes. More than once and would do it again. Very well organized. Jim Dumigan knows what he's doing.

Once in Jackson take the Lakeshore dr. exit turns into 25
quote:It's the LAKELAND Drive exit; not Lakeshore or Lakeside. I drive it every day. Traffic on Lakeland for the first 10 miles or so after you exit off of I-55 can be pretty bad from about 4pm to 6pm weekdays - especially this Friday. If it's raining it'll be worse. We usually go to Starkville on Lakeland/Hwy. 25 because it's a little shorter, but sometimes we go 55/82 just to avoid having to go down Lakeland Drive during times when traffic is likely to be bad.
Actually its Lakeside just making sure folks don't get confused.

I'd stick with the Alumni House
+1
I've watched several LSU games there when Mississippi teams were also playing. They have a lot of TV's so the game will be on somewhere in the place. Also, the booths have tv's that you can control yourself.
I've heard others that say Buffalo Wild Wings on Lake Harbour in Ridgeland is a good place to watch games, but a buddy from Baton Rouge was in Ridgeland during the NCAA basketball tournament in March and he went there to watch and he said it was very crowded, it took forever to get in and then they didn't have the LSU game on. I've also heard that it's the local Auburn alum hangout. Good enough reason to avoid it.
Stick with Alumni House.

Bowie's Tavern is best for LSU games. At the end of Main Street right at the river. 100 Main if you're looking to map it.
