re: App. St. fans more delusional than ND fans?

Why do LSU fans think that they are the beginning and the end of everything.....the alpha and the omega.....the "big boys" just because a few schools got together and designed a method that they would have 85 scholarships and App State and others would have 63 scholarships to play football.
All you have to do to get 85 scholarships is play in division IA. But App St. doesn't want to play in the IA, because then they'd be an average nobody team. You guys like it much better being a big fish in a small pond. You lost to teams called "Wofford" and "Georgia Southern" last year. Jeez, what an accomplishment.
quote:
Does that make you "feel" like you are better than us? For your information the NCAA asked Appalachian if they wanted to stay 1-A back in the 80s....the year after App State beat South Carolina at Columbia, Wake Forest at Winston-Salem, Marshal and East Carolina I believe.
Did they lose to Wofford that year, too?
quote:
No telling what App State might have done since, if not for that decision.
But we do know why they aren't moving to go IA now. They're chicken.
We're no better than you. But our football team is much better than yours, and Tiger Stadium is the most difficult stadium in the country for a visiting team to play in. App St will be completely destroyed. There won't be an Michigan style miracle victory for you. Les Miles doesn't frick around.

Going for 2 points when you just scored a touchdown and you're up 5 with 3 seconds left on the clock would be a start.

LSU a lucky team?
That's what they say every time LSU wins a BCS National Title.

Excellent. Presumably if Georgia wins all their games till they play us, they will be #1. Knocking off a number one team is always great!

There's only one financial transaction of interest having to do with LSU at Auburn games - its the bribe money that Auburn pays the refs. I'd stay home. Do you really want to go out of your way to watch a rigged game in person?
re: Are Any Strength of Schedule Polls Out?
Posted by KanuckTiger on 8/17/08 at 3:34 pm to Chinaski
By my count we play 3 AP Top 10 teams and one additional AP Top 25 team. (Georgia Florida and Auburn in Top 10 and Alabama in Top 25). In the Coaches we play 2 top 10 (Georgia and Florida) and one additional top 25 (Auburn).
Am I missing a team? Tennessee is top 25 but we don't play them.
App. St. is hardly anything to brag about as far as strength of schedule goes. We're going to wax them. You think Les Miles is going to take any chance at all at being made a fool of like Michigan? Hell no! He's had months to prepare for this game and you can bet he's done it. App St is going to be decimated.

After JaMarcus was drafted by the Raiders I made a $50 bet with a friend that the Raiders would go to the Superbowl (but not necessarily win) within 5 years.
Am I an idiot?

13-1, with an SECCG win, a Sugar Bowl win, and a loss to Auburn. Final ranking #2.

Seriously though, I don't see Tennessee's as #2. That place doesn't get nearly as loud as LSU, Auburn, or Florida. More bodies does not equal more noise.
Honestly I don't have much to compare it with, the only away games I've been to were at Georgia, UT, Alabama and the Georgia Dome. Oh yeah, and Tulane  I found the UT experience to be the most intimidating as a fan, by far, when compared to Bama and Georgia. There was the Rocky Top, the orange, and the seats in the visiting section were not big enough for everyone to sit down that was for damn sure. And they were loud. Real loud. Until JaMarcus shut them up with a TD with less than 15 seconds to go.
Georgia fans were the nicest, they gave us beer. But they don't know how to run a concession stand for dick. I got in line to get a coke to mix my whiskey with when half time started, and by the time half time ended I still didn't have a drink. I ended up watching LSU get blown out while drinking warm whiskey in the hot sun.

auburn may very well suck arse this year...at least early in the season when we play them...
prolly our best shot at beating them away in quite a few years...
new qb and offense, two new coordinators...
Unless they got rid of the guy who pays the bribes to the refs then I don't see them losing.

8-4 with a sec championship wont be to bad but losing to ole Tulane Troy and App would suck pretty bad
Yeah, it would. But winning the SECCG would make it all better.

Sorry if this is germans.

I definitely can see Neyland Stadium being #2. I went last time LSU played there. The hardest part as far as being a fan was friggin Rocky Top. I got so sick of hearing that damn song it was starting to drive me crazy. Every car that passed by in the parking line had it blaring. It was on all the radio stations, coming out of every speaker in the entire town, over, and over, and over again. And the ORANGE. Man I'm glad we won!

LSU wins SEC CG this year

Our first three games are out of conference. Its a perfect setup for a new QB - we can lose all of them, unless it comes down to the last of the tiebreakers, it won't matter a bit insofar as getting to the SECCG!
So we have three 'practice' games as far as the SEC CG is concerned. Sure - it would suck real bad to lose to App St or Troy St, and I don't think we will.
Then we lose to Auburn away. At that point whoever our QB is will have 4 games experience - given that, and the absurd amount of talent we have on the defense and the rest of the offense, we win the rest of our games. Auburn will drop two, and we go to the SECCG.

I met a guy from App. st at a conference. We both had posters next to each other and it was a couple days after the BCS CG, so naturally the discussion turned to football. He told me that Michigan was supposed to be LSU, that originally they were scheduled to play LSU to open 07 instead of Michigan. I don't know how true that is, but they guy seemed cock sure App would have won, as if LSU dodged a bullet by opening with Virginia Tech instead of App. St. ?!??
When I asked him why App St doesn't go IA, he said its because the school is getting so many applicants now that they are three time (or however many time) 1AA champs and that if they went IA they would lose all that fame. fricking chickens! They're clearly good enough to play in the mid to low echelons of IA football, but they choose not because they like being lower division champs better than being upper division nobodies.
