re: Question for landlords and homeowners

I am looking into an owner occupied duplex. Does anyone here have any experience with this or suggestions?

If I don't go downtown, I was thinking Enoteca or Digulio's and drinks by the overpass/ bulldog. Can anyone confirm what I said about Stroubes, it just looked like more of a place for a business dinner than a date, but there were only a few pictures on the site so I'm not sure.
date in BR

I'm not from BR but will be in town Thurs night and was looking for suggestions as to a good place to take my girlfriend to dinner. I was thinking about Stroubes but from the pictures on the website, it didn't look like a very good date atmosphere. Any suggestions? I was thinking possibly Digulio's or Little Village, preferably somewhere not too far from bars if we want to go out to after dinner.
Surely, the majority of students are looking at huge profits, which is ridiculous. I know several girls that sold their tickets for over $300 and I'm not sure if it pisses me off more that they did it or the fact that another student paid that much of a premium. I was just trying to point out that some things need to be handled on a case by case basis and the situation with the 28 year old guy (assuming he is well out of college) using a girls ID and the one I listed are a bit different, despite the fact that both are "against the rules."

Regardless, the point of that thread was how blatantly obvious it was the cop was lying and not about my actual speed.
I can't argue with that. Either way, I was just trying to make a point. I'm assuming you were partially joking with your 5 statements you listed.
Good point, all rules should be followed to the T. Too bad cops in Mississippi don't ticket people for going 3 mph over the limit, this world would be much better off. I mean hell, if the speed limit is 65, going 68 is sure as hell against the law...

I'm just saying that you have to be reasonable and not have such harsh penalties. For instance, a student who pays his way through college and has to wait tables the night of the Florida game; therefore, gives his best friend who graduated early in August his ticket and ID.

Yes, both the user and issuer are prohibited from attending all LSU Sporting Events as a student for the remainder of the 2009-10 year and are not allowed to order football tickets for the 2010/11 season.
Wow. That is ridiculous.

You want to do the PMBA program?
I am applying to the full time MBA program for next fall. My current job is part time, which is why I want to take the 1st test in June.

Hey, speaking of this, when did you start studying for L1? I just got the books last week, I figured I'd start around Mardi Gras (depends on work situation).
I plan on starting in a few weeks for the June test, but from your posts here, you seem to have more knowledge of the tested material than I do and would probably need less time.

Thanks for the information.
On a related note, how do you feel about the recruiter presence in the MBA program? I have no interest in the internal auditing route, which I know has a great placement rate, but am considering the finance specialization.

You're just going to meet LSU students, it's not like you are taking it with professionals. The only job opportunities you might get are for a student job.

CFA exam prep course at LSU

I know that a few people on here have taken the course for credit at LSU and I was wondering if anyone could give me some information on how useful it was and whether or not it would be worth commuting from Lafayette for the class once a week, or if I would be better off studying on my own. Also, does taking the course at LSU open up any networking or job opportunities?

You can do the 4-course thing for $40 right now...but even if you don't, I don't think you'll be at $250 for two people.
Is this on the menu or is it a special you have to ask about?
Should I expect to spend around $250 for two people?

I've only been for black tie private parties. I'm going for dinner Thursday and was wondering if I am ok with slacks and a nice sports coat, or would a suit be more appropriate.

The bar in the Ritz - the Library
Over a year ago I was told that this is now a private cigar lounge. Did this idea bust and it revert to a bar open to the public/hotel guests.

...or Blackened Voodoo. A growler or two (or pony) of nola brown or blonde would be good, but a bit of a hassle. Heiner Brau (not sure of the spelling) also bottles some of their beers and I'd imagine far fewer of the party guests have tried that as opposed to Abita.
I remembered reading this thread a while back and noticing that there were a few posts of favorite bars that included places I'm always at (Columns, dba, Delachaise, Bridge, Ms Mae's, Mimi's, Balcony Bar, Bruno's} and Mayfair, but I've never been there. Maybe it's because I've always lived in Old Metairie and Lakeview, but I'm surprised I have never been, especially with its proximity to the Columns and Delachaise. Which of the bars that I listed is it most similar to?

I am waiting for them to come out with a stout of some sort.
They already have one, Jefferson Stout. I've only seen it on draft in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, but I'm not sure if it is available in bottles in MS.
I always uses an empty liquor bottle with a spout like they use at bars because it lets you pour the sauce quick and fairly accurately into the shells. This works well as long as its a wide enough spout and the garlic is chopped finely.
I know its just a mental thing, but the thought of oysters in a foil cupcake wrap instead of a charred shell just doesn't seem as appealing.

To reiterate the other posters' thoughts, skip the Brew Pub for food, but it is a cool place to have a few beers. I always go to Abita BBQ a few minutes towards I-12 from the Brew Pub and have loved it every time, but that may be due to the fact that I always go after the brewery tour.
