The NYC subway and local bus base fare is increasing from $2.90 to $3.00, effective January 4, 2026, part of a larger MTA fare and toll hike for 2026, which also raises express bus fares to $7.25 and introduces new weekly/monthly pass options, with OMNY users benefiting from a permanent 7-day fare cap, as the MTA phases out MetroCards.
Key Changes for NYC Transit (Effective Jan 4, 2026):
Base Fare (Subway & Local Bus): Up 10 cents to $3.00 (from $2.90).
Reduced Fare: Increased to $1.50 (from $1.45).
Express Bus Base Fare: Now $7.25 (up from $7).
Weekly Express Bus Cap: $67 for unlimited rides.
OMNY 7-Day Fare Cap: A permanent rolling cap of $35 for subway/bus rides, rewarding frequent users.
MetroCard: Sales will stop by December 31, 2025, pushing riders to OMNY.
Why the Increase?
The MTA cites rising operational costs, aiming for minimal increases (around 2%) while improving service, according to a September 30, 2025 press release.
Other Changes:
Commuter Rail (LIRR/Metro-North): Monthly/weekly tickets increase by up to 4.5%.
Family Fare: Expanded to include children up to age 17 for $1 each on commuter rail

I always put a ZAGG glass screen protector and Speck case on my phone. Speck cases are very slim.

That was so fascinating to me as a kid. They always broadcast the launches. Everyone would watch until they were safely in orbit. Then they always broadcast the reentry, and you would watch until they got them back to the aircraft carrier.
I was 9 years old when they did their Christmas Eve broadcast.
It was on of three moments of Apollo that standout in memory..
1. Christmas Eve, man was actually going around the moon in a spacecraft.
2. Neil Armstrong planting his foot on the surface of the moon.
3. Apollo 13 coming in for slashdown. No one thought they would get them back home.

They are available in the new Cirrus models. The autonomous emergency landing systems were already in their jets.

That is one reason Cirrus ate Beechcraft's lunch. Cirrus is expected to sell 700 units in the upcoming year. Those are incredible sales numbers in the aircraft world.
The first Bonanaza was introduced 78 years ago in 1947. The current Bonanza 36 models came along in 1968. The Baron was started in 1961. The current Baron 58 models started in 1969 as a 1970 model.
Textron, who owns Cessna and Beechcraft, just killed them both. They are no longer even listed on the website. Cirrus literally killed them. Beechcraft simply didn't keep up with the technology. They still charged $1.5 million for a new Bo, and almost $2 million for a new Baron.
When the pilot is incapacitated the passengers can save themselves. It's as simple as pushing a button.
