With the new 34 man roster starting in 2025, you will see less local Top HS 2025 recruits go directly to the SEC. They don't have time to develop, they must be ready to walk in year one and contribute. Hard for most of these 18 yr old guys to beat out 20-22 year old's. SEC will be basically free agency every summer and they will be "buying" new rosters each year out of the portal. It is the new landscape of Power 4 athletics. Mid Majors will reap the benefit of getting these talented kids, at least for 1-2 years until they get bought by an SEC program.
