re: LSU women’s basketball win 117-59. Tigers win!!

The article I read said it was a minor knee issue - can't remember if surgery was involved or not or which knee.

Played college basketball with her mom - she really was an outstanding player.
I can assure you that CKM has not forgotten about that… I hope she serves up something special tomorrow for that UCLA coach.
I agree that the post situation could be better, but Helen Keller could see how much better the guard depth is this year than last.

I was not able to watch the game, so one question -- what was Poa doing in the game in the final seconds? I checked the box score -- did Williams and Day-Wilson just have terrible games and were benched?

Best I can tell, there are only two players from that poll that could even cut it playing for Mulkey. If you are a sissified nambi-pambi, she is not the coach for you. If you are a confident, hard-working, respectful young lady, Coach Mulkey can make you the best player you can be.

Jada Richard MIGHT end up starting before she graduates, but you can be certain that next season her arse is going to be glued to the bench just like Velez’s.
CKM seems to have missed a lot on her recruiting classes from last-year-at-Baylor to LSU. Hannah Gusters to Amani Bartlett to Janae Kent and Anjelica Velez. Just no impact freshmen. Mikaylah Williams is the big exception but still, a lot of misses.
And in exit meetings in the next few days, CKM will no doubt tell Bartlett: “your arse has stayed glued to the bench here for three seasons. No need for a fourth. Kindly find yourself somewhere else to play because I need your roster spot for someone who can contribute at least a little.”
Pretty sure Bartlett was a Nikki Fargas recruit that had already signed on with LSU when Mulkey took over... Gusters issues are between her ears - she is now looking for her 4th school in as many years.

re: I’m proud of this team. Check in if you are too

Absolutely proud of this team - think about the level of expectations we have when we are disappointed with an Elite 8 finish? One thing I'm sure of, LSU will always be in the hunt for a title with CKM at the helm.

Yes, I’m sure someone will be writing a ‘hit’ piece on him soon as well, at Dawn’s request, now that she has another threat towards her self-perceived greatness.
re: Jersey Wolfenbarger Commits to LSU WBB
Posted by angielulu on 3/26/24 at 8:58 am to Tigerfan14
I see this differently - if CKM brings in a true point guard from the portal, that allows Hailey to move back to shooting guard where her best skills can be utilized. This also gives her a chance to work into WNBA material if she improves her quickness. And yes, someone will not be a starter, but it would allow a good rotation of 4 strong players (or more if Kent or Velez make strides in the off season). This also gives CKM the opportunity to run 4 out and 1 in if the post players are in foul trouble, injury, etc.

6'5" G/F - Played her first two years at Arkansas. #7 overall out of highschool, McDonald's All-American. Seems like a great pick up for the team.

re: How I would fix the BBall Program

Maybe ask Kim Mulkey for some pointers...
You can look straight to the top at President 'Liberal' Linda Livingstone to understand what happened there... She spent 12 years in California and 3 years in Washington DC prior to taking the helm at Baylor. There is no mystery here.
So you didn't even do any research before you decided to criticize? Sounds like you are the one representing the world we live in today.

I miss Alexis so much - oh what this team could do this year if she was still the point guard. BUT, she was not a first round pick for the WNBA. She was #22 of 36, so taken at the bottom of the 2nd round. It is fairly common for only 1st rounders to make a roster, and even that doesn't happen in all cases.
re: Woodward’s 8-year 60 million contract with Scott Drew will heal us all.
Posted by angielulu on 11/29/23 at 9:05 am to BomBayTiger
I don’t think Scott Drew is an option because Mulkey is at LSU. They were like oil and water on many occassions in the past. Now, I do believe Drew might leave Baylor at some point given the complete lack of intelligence of the AD and Pres at Baylor, but I would be shocked if he landed at LSU.
re: How many more do we get???
Posted by angielulu on 4/3/23 at 2:54 pm to Hankstarr74
Mulkey has 5 more years on her contract with LSU -- I would fully expect her to retire after that. My best guess is that you get at least one more, possibly two, in the next 5 years.
You could be right about this... in the post game presser, Mulkey was asked about the social media attention Reese was getting for the taunting, and she ultimately said she doesn't pay any attention to social media, that her coaches and staff run her social media accounts. She then said to the media something like 'Heck, I like you guys better than I like social media', which actually meant I really don't care for the media, but I care even less for social media.
re: Mulkey had a masterful game plan for Clarke....
Posted by angielulu on 4/3/23 at 9:15 am to olgoi khorkhoi
I assure you that defense played a huge role in that game... Yes, LSU finally had a tremendous offensive game, but their defense is what disrupted Iowa's game plan. They also out rebounded Iowa by a dozen. Pat Summit's quote is extremely applicable to this LSU team -- "Offense sells tickets, defense wins games, rebounding wins championships."
Alexis was absolutely my favorite player from the team this year... She was simply a great leader. Her turn-around story is inspiring. I watched her as a Freshman at Baylor, and she stepped up greatly that year when Kristy Wallace went down with the knee injury. I hated to see her dismissed from the BU team, but I also know she was making poor decisions in her personal life at that time. She has truly turned it around and has worked her way into a myriad of options for her future. I wish her much success.
