ok . just wondering. i figured i could have an app that would update manually. if you look at the ncaa baseball site they still show no scores for any team. i guess they have someone who scours the internets and uploads all the scores at once at midnight or something.
anyway, im an app dev and i could probably set up an app in a weekend.

if there is a central hub to get updated scores I would write an app real quick that would update scores every so often and charge $1.49 for it (life time charge). if anyoen wants to help figure out how to parse data quickly and easily i would make it happen for iOS and Android.
anyone interested? Money to check for scores is silly. If you figured out that everyone who was coming to check scores wasn't paying a sub then its stupid to think that those same people are gonna now for over $10 just to check those same scores. Whatever people you do get to cross over will be less than the ad revenue from all the page visits.

i didnt say i was happy with attendance but when "butch" puts up 20K with no factual anything to back it up, just blowing numbers out of thin air then i have to correct.
geez its just like most media and newspapers nowadays..spewing out info with no factual basis.

how do you know there are 7K people in the district while the game is going on? do you just start head counting?
look i know we dont fill er up but most colleges use tickets sold vs seats anyhow, except a few. to say that we have 20K though at any of our games except the arky st game is ridiculous. ive been going to almost every game for YEARS and i know what 20K looks like.

you basically agreed with Butch saying we averaged less than 20K and i back it up with numbers and all you can say is that its tickets sold vs butts in the seats?
you are telling me that on average 7,000 less people were in the seats than tickets sold? if so how would you or butch know? did you attend any of the games? did you take pictures?
i attended almost every one. but then again you seem to just be hateful so no proof nor anyone or anything else said regarding this matter would sink between your head.

"and Butch will tell you you're wromg...because you are. "
you really need to do your research Don...
in 2006 our total attendance for 6 home games was 173,963 for an average of 28,994. not even close to 20K that he thinks he knows about nor yourself.
this year in 2007 our average has been slightly below 28,000 only because our AD gave us a game against arkansas state that no one cared about on a thanksgiving weekend, not to mention a wed night game, and 2 Sunday night games back to back and we still get almost a 27K average..which is still pretty good considering the egg we have laid this season.
people need to start backing up what they say or they will be called out on it. i am not saying i am proud of our attendance considering the number of people in Hattiesburg now but ill break it down for you, courtesy Hattiesburg American..
1996 24,580 (first year of C-USA)
1997 23,923
1998 24,561
1999 25,834
2000 28,509
2001 25,649
2002 26,962 (six home games)
2003 28,645 (includes record 36,152 vs. Nebraska)
2004 28,964
2005 27,862
2006 28,993 (highest under Bower)
2007 26,768

you can tell BUTCH that we average more than 20K attendance and if he knew any better then he would know that not any sane golden eagle expects to be national powers, especially the conference that we are in or while we are not in a BCS conference.
we do expect to go and WIN conference championships with occasional liberty bowl wins in a conference that everyone knows is the worst in the country.
and purplehze - you really need to be a little more honest. Jeff Bower has had 17 years to produce. he was not backstabbed. any other program would have kicked him out YEARS ago. for those that understand what USM football is they will tell you they are surprised that he lasted as long as he has. you also must not be informed enough to know that Bower does not equal USM. he did NOT build USM. SOuthern Miss was winning before he came and will continue to win after.
during the 80s we beat more ranked teams in that 8 or 9 year span than we did Jeff Bower in all of his 17 years. we lost 2 CUSA games , TWO from 1996-2000. weve gone from that to losing 3 conference losses just this year, including RICE and only beating a BAD memphis team 1 time in 4 years. are you telling me we shouldnt look for something better?
gimme a break.
you want it in a nutshell? open your eyes, everyone that reads this thread and read this article.

"The four names they were looking at Jimbo, Muschamp, Nix and Ellis Johnson. They only paid Jeff around $250,000/yr."
it was $350,000 per yr base so yeah still underpaid but the alumni basically got fed up and said, "ya know? we dont have to settle for mediocrity anymore, we are gonna pony up". so only 2 weeks after losing to Rice on national tv they came up with $600,000 and then went to the AD with the money. Done Deal. we have money we just have been knowingly underpaying.
its almost just like SMU in Dallas. they have much more money than we do but most people dont know they have more money than most colleges in the United State. I am not exaggerating. They are about to finalize a deal with Johnson from Navy for about $1.5-$1.8 Million. they can afford ANY amount they want.
USM, within reason, can do the same. the alumni money is there. They just had to finally get their heads out of the sand, quit sitting on the couch eating potato chips and get with the program. we have one of the nice athletic facilities in the country(only 5 years old) and are about to expand to seat around 40K which is an upgrade from 33K but plans are to raise that level and also build in the other side in the future. Hattiesburg has also grown a great deal in the last 5 - 6 years and has been named as one of the most livable cities in the southeast.
