When you have 2 starters that will be preseason All-American and return pretty much everyone, how do you think it goes?
re: I’m not worried about Our pitching tomrorow….question is who do they have?

As a lifelong Southern Miss fan in every sport, I am accustomed to accepting the pain when it involves playing SEC Teams in any sport. Having said that, our baseball team is legit.
Nothing about LSU’s hitting ever gives me good vibes.
Y’all very well may win tomorrow, but it’s not because Southern Miss is bad at baseball. It will be be because LSU is very good, too!

USM will not start any of the 3 that have started so far. Hard for a lot of you to believe, but Southern Miss is deeper on the mound than LSU. Will any of those 3 make an appearance? I don’t know. If anyone does, it will be Hall. Not because he is rested from a 2 days rest, it will be because he exerts the least amount of energy.

You had the luxury of not facing Southern Miss’s ace. LSU got our Sunday guy. Neither are draft eligible this year, but both were invited to audition for team USA, which is a huge accomplishment. USM only loses our CF to eligibility. USM could return 8 position starters. A couple of bullpen guys will probably get drafted, but they all have at least another year of eligibility.
We’re not SEC, but we will probably be preseason top 5 by everyone next year.
We’re a mid major, but we are damn good at baseball.
I have zero confidence that we win tomorrow, but some of you guys are downright stupid about College Baseball.

Southern Miss is not stupid, and we are not going to start Tanner Hall. Ben Ethridge will probably start, but a short leash. Best has not thrown yet. You will see a lot of repeat bullpen guys before you see any of the 3 starters, but I would not rule them out.
Not true. Stuart is the 6’9” guy that finished off Kennesaw. Matt Adams is starting this game, and he might be 6’0”.
Adams and Ethridge are our 2 best arms left. As Woodshed said, Ethridge started the year as our Friday guy. He was not very good. Got moved to the bullpen, and was much better. Apparently, he has been battling arm soreness for the last 3 weeks and hasn’t pitched, but has been given the green light to go.
Adams started the year hurt, but has been a big boost during the midweek games. Low 90s with good offspeed.
I’m not sure if Isaiah Rhodes has pitched yet, but he is very good. Really good offspeed benders.
Chandler Best was our Sunday starter as a true freshman 3 years ago, and was not good. Got moved to the bullpen, and better but not great. Can get it up there 93-94, but he scares me.
We’re not void of remaining arms, but someone is going to have to pitch the game of their life.

This was always my concern with HC Scott Berry. He is robotic when it comes to pitching. It’s absolutely looney tunes that we are throwing Hall against Army. 1st team All American against Army?? Southern Miss is not the least bit interested in winning this Regional. frick!
NCAA has shut that down. Apparently, they are not a fan of all of the standing room only tickets we had against OM. If USM and LSU meet Saturday night, it will probably be around 5k.
The one restaurant/bar that is not getting any mention is Patio44. That’s my favorite. It’s also less than a mile from the stadium. Amazing food and high end bartenders.

The under 17 baseball showcase has pretty much eaten up the rooms. So much so that I don’t think the opposition will be staying in or around Hattiesburg. I have seen that 80+ select teams will be in Hattiesburg this weekend.

Trashy? Come on Man. We are not that different from you. Be better, brother

Adams doesn’t throw wildly. He has been completely dominant and then let a hitter unleash a mammoth bomb. Then he gets rattled. He would shut Army down, but I doubt we go that route.

You are correct. One of the 3 will pitch against Army. Ben Ethridge started the year as our Friday starter. He struggled mightily. We used him out of the bullpen, and he looked pretty good. He also has not pitched in 3 weeks due to arm soreness. He is full go now, so that is an arm that we have not had in a while.
Thanks for being kind. It’s going to be an interesting weekend..

I understand where you are coming from. Adams was hurt most of the year. He can hit 94/93 with a wicked curve. I don’t want Adams to beat LSU. I want Adams to beat Army.
One of my biggest problems with HC Scott Berry is that he rarely deviates from the whole year weekend rotation. I’m not sure why you would pitch Hall, Waldrep, or Riggins against Army, but I fully expect one of them to do it.
Matt Adams is fully capable of shutting Army down, and the USM bats will have fun.
It’s not going to happen, but it should.

I can’t answer that until I see who pitches Game 1.
I think Southern Miss should start Matt Adams against Army, but I doubt Berry will do it. He is not a risk taker, but I think Southern Miss should. Then you have 3 studs waiting in the wings.

Southern Miss has 2 starting pitchers that were invited to audition for Team USA. Have they struggled at times? Yes. Can they shut down anyone? Yes.
And Hunter Riggins has been the best starter for the last month. I’m not really sure what to think, but it will not be a cakewalk.
