Pool renovators, Landscapers
Posted by ShayaBaya on 8/18/25 at 8:20 am
Hi! I am looking to do a pretty hefty landscaping job in a rural, historic southern Louisiana home. I want to convert part of a gravel driveway under an oak into a sitting area, renovate the cracked concrete slab around a pool, add a pool fence and incorporate an outdoor kitchen. Any recommendations for someone with experience with a landscaping and design company that can work with an historic acadian property and native Louisiana plants and try not to make this pool fence an abomination. Seems hard to come by but I can't give up! *In / Near East Baton Rouge*

Thank you so much for this! I assumed that something like this existed but just stumbled across tons of nonsense when I searched. It’s mostly the measurements that I am lacking because there are some odd considerations but I will definitely look into those. Thank you very much.
Job for architecture student - simple measurements
Posted by ShayaBaya on 8/22/24 at 9:12 am
I am having a bump out room added to a pool house and my architect is working from away for a while. To push the project along I need to provide measurements - exterior, interior, window locations etc... so I am looking to hire an architecture student for a few hours to knock this out for me today or tomorrow. This is just for first plan discussions - and will not be used for building - everything will be properly measured by the architect before progressing. If you know an LSU student who wants a quick one-day job let me know! Thank you, -Jessica
Thank you! Will call them in the morning.
Thank you! Airline auto care also came up in a search with great ratings etc…

I have two Reolinks that are great. They need a 2GB T mobile data only SIM for 9.99/Mo to run each one - so $20/mo
Looking for an old school car mechanic
Posted by ShayaBaya on 8/17/23 at 5:02 pm
Any recommendations for a mechanic who l works on 20+ year old cars / trucks? I’ve got an AC compressor that’s gone out, the handbrake / emergency brake has gone out and I’m pretty sure we have a diesel leak. Any older car lovers out there with experience?
Pool cleaning service - UC / EBR
Posted by ShayaBaya on 6/2/21 at 3:59 pm
Does anyone have a pool cleaning service they recommend for University Club area on the EBR / Iberville Parish area? We currently have a major issue with our salt water pool turning into a frog-pond so we need immediate help but we also need a weekly pool service. Any recommendations? Don’t suggest DIY.

Brick steps needed near University Club
Posted by ShayaBaya on 4/19/21 at 8:53 pm
I need a long brick step down built alongside a pool. Maybe 40 ft long, two steps. (It’s a pool surround that is higher than the surrounding yard) Who in the world can do that!m? Can’t find a brick mason to save my life. Any ideas?
We travel a lot and as a result often come home to out of control plants. I’ve cut the confederate jasmine this time of year before and it’s fine If you just want to trim it, but if you want to really, really reduce its footprint, be patient and cut the heck out of it in December / January. Same for bananas.

Bayou tree is the best - but expansive. We have used them for huge jobs in NOLA and a few small jobs. Great guys - you’ll pay but it’s worth it.
Tendon surgery on a large dog
Posted by ShayaBaya on 4/18/21 at 1:16 pm
A friend has a large (wonderful) Doberman with torn Achilles’ tendons (3 in each rear hock). Has anyone had experience with surgery to repair? Interested in the recovery/pain management process.
Alternatively, has anyone used hock braces instead of going the surgical route?
Thanks!

Did you find anyone? I’m looking for the same.

Does anyone have experience or recommendations for installing a heat pump vs a gas or electric furnace for home use?
