Back in the mid 90's I had a 93 Mazda rx-7 twin turbo and coming back from Gulf Shores did the bridge in 12 minutes.
He'd be a ghost if that was my daughter.
Picked up 2 22 ft 2x6's and 1 16 ft 2x6 this past week.....$115!

Gonna take a little while before we notice it at the lumber yards. It's like fuel, shoots up quick when market rises quick. Goes down slow when market drops quick!
Iberia parish closed tomorrow.....kids are thrilled.

You can't have quality when any reputable builder with good subs can't even build the house(before profit) for what they are selling you the house for with the lot and paying a real estate commission.

As a little mom and pop residential contractor in Iberia parish who hates all volume builder competitors, I approve this message! Lol. I've been building for 25+ years and the term "you get what you pay for" should have a picture of a new house next to it in the dictionary.
re: What’s the current cost per square foot to build in the Lafayette / Baton Rouge area?

I'm a builder out of iberia parish. Lumber is getting stupid again. I just priced a 3000 living, 4219 sq ft under roof custom home w/generator. Small outside kitchen, etc. My turn-key price was $625,000 and I was only bidding an 8% mark-up. That's about $150 per sq ft but that is under roof, not living. If you build nice but not too custom you could probably be $130-$135 per sq ft under roof. But lumber is still creeping up and I'm being told probably spring before we see it start back down.
I'm a contractor in Iberia parish and I can tell you a barndominium is a good bit cheaper right now. Cost of wood has been sky high but it is starting to come down. Just remember to keep the building basic, the more you try to dress up the exterior the closer you'll get to conventional home cost per sq ft.
