Were she more savvy she would have explained that she was going by Trump's reassurances when she said it was fine to go out in Chinatown. For instance, Trump's statement two days prior “We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China. We have it under control. It’s going to be just fine.”

Going to be just fine. Under control. So why wouldn't she be encouraging visits to Chinatown? The President said it was under control. Is Trump arguing that Pelosi should not have believed him and was a fool to trust him? HE reassured her that it was under control and going to be fine.

I acknowledged that for years Trump has been a harsh critic of China. I even provided evidence of that.

Clearly, when I spoke of Trump's inconsistency, I was talking about Trump statements AFTER he became a politician, as compared to prior to his becoming a politician. Hence "once they become politicians".

The way someone speaks when they are a private citizen is different than when they are an elected official / politician. Once they become a politician, as both Trump and Biden are today, they become more political in their statements, as I evidenced with the quote from Trump that is highly political.

No doubt Trump has long been "sounding the alarm" on China. But he was not sounding the alarm on China in January ( at time when it most mattered ) but instead issuing statements saying he trusted China and had confidence in China's transparency. Sure, he sounded the alarm for years but all that was for naught because when we most needed him to sound the alarm he did not sound the alarm, instead issuing the opposite- don't worry, I trust China, great guy, that Xi.

I suspect that yourself and most on this board would have preferred that Trump instead said "Don't trust these effers as far as you can throw them! They will LIE about the virus and the danger of it. I'm not accepting anything they claim without verification."

Despite his long record of speaking straight-talk about China that pulled no punches, when it mattered most, he instead went political and blew smoke up China's rear. Maybe, it can be argued, he HAD to do that, because of politics. But the fact remains that he did it. He pulled the punches. Instead of the straight-talk we got politicized talk. And I find that relevant to discussion of his consistency on China. Consistent only up to a point.

In my experience, the folks who know how to do the live-streaming sort of work necessary to do the show from her home would not be union. Union guys are the studio guys in tv and the film crews. The "new media" type of work is less unionized.

Warner Bros. Television responded that the union had approved the non-union hires. ( Generally the way it works is that if the union has no one available, or simply has no one in the union who does the type of work you need, they approve the outside hire. )

I'd have to here more from Ellen or her staff to have an informed opinion on the matter. But this feels like tabloid trash material where we are only getting half the story and a highly sensationalized half at that.

and fyi, unionized tv-stage crews are some of the laziest fukkers in the biz. They essentially cannot get fired and they've been doing the same role for decades in many cases. The last thing those guys would want to do is to have to do a show from Ellen's home. Too much work, that. They hate remotes. Which is why they do stage-work.
