Got our Brown Top Millet in the ground a couple weeks back. Approximately 2.5 acres worth. Trying to decide which way to go prep wise prior to season start. The field is in two sections.

Help me understand.
What you are saying is from the knee (I agree is a great receiving position) he is a poor receiver of the baseball currently. As displayed all year.
Conventionally he would be even worse receiving (not sure I know what that looks like)... But if there is the possibility of him not allowing 4 balls per nine innings to get through the wickets and cost you bases/ runs. Wouldn't it be prudent in situational baseball to attempt to give yourself a chance to not cost the team runs. Especially if you are not an elite receiver??
I guess the most frustrating part is not just the deflected fastballs off the glove that he has issues getting to because he is anchored, it is the 0-2 61-foot slider that he knows is getting buried by Guidry that ultimately, he whiffs on and allows an extra base runner when the ball never leaves the framework of his body.

That may be true for a few catchers but your telling me that our catchers are better at blocking balls in the catchers box this year by 25%. What games are you watching. Multiple pass balls through the wickets have cost LSU dearly, simply because we can't get our glove down in the correct manner. The amount of strikes you so called "Steal" in college will never amount to the number of bases/ runs you allow with multiple pass balls with runners on. Please rewatch the game last night and tell me Neal is an elite receiving catcher from a knee.
There are undoubtedly catchers that can operate on a knee they just don't play at LSU.

re: IMO we need to change our pitching approach

Easily the most down to Earth description of our pitching approach. Not only does this hit the high points it gives an explanation of the thought process behind it. Our secondary guys/bullpen do not attack the zone whatsoever and fall behind consistently. We have one arm that is capable of living in positive hitting counts while the others can not. They have demonstrated consistently they can not pitch from behind, and they should not be expected to do so. MLB pitchers are comfortable pitching around guys because they are paid to make the pitches when necessary. College pitchers are much more likely to turn one walk into two or three....If our pen is unwilling to attack the zone early and often unfortunately I think we will run out of run way.
It makes me smile seeing someone capable of processing what's actually going on.

re: Nail Substitute for Tree Steps/Ladders?
Posted by Lizrdman9 on 8/30/22 at 1:43 pm to Jack Daniel
Because I will be prepping 5-10 trees prior to hunting season with steps that stay in the tree. Thats the concept
I have a set of lone wolfs set up with cheaters I am looking for a semi permanent option.
I did think about hanging the lock ons and then using sticks on every hunt. They tend to be clunky/cumbersome and I end up being a sweaty mess once Im situated

Nail Substitute for Tree Steps/Ladders?

Gents,
As we approach October plans are being made on new sets/ tree stand location. I normally hunt from Lockons and have been using the big clumsy 20' ladders that are strapped to the tree for the past five years.
In the past I have used everything from ameristep treesteps to the old school folding screw in steps. My question is why not use 10 in tree spikes? If anyone has experience with them (guage/make) let me know and a good place to acquire. It seems the local Ace may just be the place
Thanks for the help guys
