That's fair. But our defense, up until last year, was the only thing UM fans could hang their hat on. Our offense has been awful for years, even in 2017 when we started 10-0. That record was only because of Diaz and the defense.

Last year, the defense cost us a couple games for the first time in years. Baker caught the heat because he was really the only thing that changed since our personnel was pretty much the same.
Also, for what it's worth, everybody on our message boards are praying you guys hire him.

That should just go to show you how much of a downgrade he would be for your program.
You guys can do much better. Blake was very underwhelming for us this year. Statistically, our defense wasn't terrible, but we always seemed to fold when we needed a stop the most.

For instance, we lost the game against UNC because we let them convert on a 4th and 17 on the last drive of the game. We rushed 3 and gave Howell an hour to throw the ball, which allowed him to wait until someone finally came open.

Never mind the fact that Diaz had to get involved halfway through the season because our defense was not playing up to his standard.

Congratulations!

So happy for your team and fan base. It was awesome watching y’all this year. I can’t wait to see how you guys do again next year.

And don’t worry too much about Brady leaving. When your coaches are getting snatched up by other teams, especially NFL teams, it should tell you that y’all are doing something right. Coach O will make sure you guys don’t miss a beat. I’m sure of that. Enjoy the time on the top of the mountain. There is no better feeling!

As a UM fan, I watch a lot of ACC games. So I’ve pretty much watched every game they’ve played this year. Nothing should scare you, if I’m being honest.

Lawrence is really good, and Venebles is a top-notch DC, but it’s nothing y’all can’t handle.

I’m sure they will come out fast in the first half because they think they’ve been disrespected and blah blah blah. But I expect LSU to run away with the game in the second half and win by at the very least 17 points.
Thanks, man. I hope so too!
To be honest, I’m not sure. I know that a lot of our frustration stems from the administration’s apathy towards the team. Outside of fundraising, our athletic director has no idea what he’s doing. He hired Diaz in like 2 hours after Richt retired without conducting any sort of search. That rubbed us all the wrong way. Diaz was green and not ready for the job, and that was evident last year. On top of that, our AD won’t get fired anytime soon because our board of trustees and President could also care less about the football team. When our new President got hired, he attended a football booster party and walked in with a soccer ball....he’s totally clueless. That’s why a lot of us are losing our minds.

I’ll preface my post quickly by saying I never could have envisioned myself rooting for your team in a national championship game against an ACC foe; and yet, here I am.

LSU demolished my beloved Canes in the 2005 Peach Bowl, sending my program into a downward spiral that we’ve never recovered from. And sadly for me, I don’t think we ever will. Oh, and who could forget our embarrassing loss to y’all in the 2018 opener? So, you might ask yourself why I’m rooting so hard for your team and why I wish you nothing but success going forward. Well, here’s a few reasons off the top of my head:

I’ve watched the majority of LSU’s games this year and have found myself enjoying your success. Joe Burrow is one of the best college quarterbacks I’ve ever seen, and he’s a stand-up guy with outstanding character. Coach O is impossible to hate. The guy loves your university, and his passion for the game is not rivaled by many. I can tell he loves his team, that the players would run through a brick wall for him, and that much of LSU’s success this year can be attributed to the culture he has built. Lastly, Joe Brady has made your offense enrapturing to watch. I live vicariously though your fan base because my Canes have had some of the worst offenses imaginable the last 2 years. For example, when it comes to 3rd down %, we literally finished dead last in the FBS last year.

Without rambling any longer, I sincerely want to wish y’all luck tomorrow. I’ll always remain a Cane at heart, but LSU has become my favorite team to watch outside of UM.

Geaux Tigers! Beat Clemson!
