re: Canvas tent anyone?
Posted by SouthArkTigerFan on 7/15/25 at 3:07 pm to KI5NKM
Check out Davis Tents. Made in the USA. Little pricey but it’s been great. Wish I had more time to go to the mountains and use it more. Go Tent is perfect for 2 people but have multiple different options. Customer service is also great so if have any questions just call them.

Best advice I was ever given concerning training squirrel dogs was to put miles on your boots. Also if you don’t make sure to get a gps collar. Got a BMC that will cover some ground. The collar was a game changer.
re: Belgium A5 Info

Another option is to get the barrel threaded. I love the old A5s and have quite a few in my collection. I sent my 12mag barrel off to get threaded and get the cones lengthened. Best shooting gun I own now. I love it. And I disagree with the poster who says they kick. Set the rings up correctly and it shoots so smooth. Looks up Art’s gun and get a rebuild kit and have a brand new gun that lasts a lifetime.

Adjustability for one. Can adjust the cheek weld to make for a better/more comfortable shooter position. Also gives room for attaching a better bi/tripod. Not sure what OP wanting but my next build will be using XLR chassis. Don’t have to bed the action and extremely accurate and lightweight if wanting to use for hunting or if wanting to ring steel can put weights in it to adjust it to your preference.

Check out marathon seat covers as well. Made in USA (think in Montana) and they are tough.
re: Squirrel hunting with a dog?

Got a mutt at the house that’s the best squirrel/coon dog I’ve ever had. He’s 17 years old now. When I get guns out I have to hide because he still wants to go. He was the same way about knocking females up. Wasn’t big as nothing but man his seed was strong because puppies always came out looking like him. He actually just came back from a 3 week bender chasing tail. Guess you never get too old to chase females. Honestly wasn’t expecting him to come back this time.
re: What is our defensive strengths?

The drive or hustle. Whatever you want to call it has been the biggest strength this year. Nobody is quitting and giving up. They are giving 110% every play. Even when they are out of position or get beat they stay in the fight like burns did to save that TD.

Check out Maven. Have a pair of their binos and I love them. Next scope for stretching my 300wsm out is gonna be a maven.

I’ve had great luck out of my primary arms.

If you got the DIY route over paying for a guide make sure to get a good pack and good boots. Don’t skimp on those two. Also best advice I can give is to get those two things and put some miles on and get in shape. I thought I covered some ground Turkey hunting. Those mountains are rough
re: Hunting pack for NM Mule Deer

Check out Kifaru. Great pack and frames that are 100% made in USA. Been around a long time as well. A little more expensive but I believe that you get what you pay for.

You obviously haven’t been to El Dorado. That’s one of the better looking buildings and is considered first class.
re: Looking to start bow hunting - need bow recommendations
Posted by SouthArkTigerFan on 12/7/21 at 9:26 am to GumplandTiger
Go search around Pro shops and get what’s most comfortable for you to shoot. Also see about getting a few lessons as well. It’s so much easier to start correctly than it is to shoot and create bad habits that you have to unlearn at a later date. Be ready bow hunting has ruined gun hunting for me. It’s addicting and an expensive hobby, but it is worth it.

Somebody needs to find this Blue Orca fella and introduce him to Coach O’s “fishing hole”

I have heard rumors from multiple people around town that Tesla was looking at buildings in town. Nothing more than rumors so I haven’t said anything but maybe there’s some fire under all the smoke. One can hope anyways.

Just wanna say thanks for all smart people in here. Been putting everyone I know on it and they all think I’m some kinda genius. In reality I have an IQ slightly higher than a banana and I’m just telling people what’s been said on this board.

Y’all know those boats too big to fit on the Ouachita River and Smack ain’t fixing to leave and go nowhere. He doesn’t like people enough to leave this area.
re: Meet my new and first ever pup

Sons current puppy/dog is half blue heeler and half Aussie. Quite possibly one of the best dogs I’ve had and I’ve had a bunch of dogs from mutts to purebred labs. So very smart. Will piss you off every other day but it’s so worth it. Get a herding ball tho. Something to burn off the energy because she will have a bunch of it.

Not sure you wanna go down this route boss. Been going to Smacks office for 15 years now and while I don’t know him that well I know him, well enough to say he ain’t right in the head. Not sure you wanna go down that road.

Wonder if that was filmed at Smacks house after it closed above $7?

He’s good. Just drove by and the parking lot was full. Looks like he’s just had a busy day hasn’t been able to ride the emotional roller coaster today.
