You want extra heat (no real apparent reason) but don't want to add any flavor, but are opposed to using pure capsaicin, which is the heat component of any pepper. Interesting

It's more about the idea of dropping in that weird shite. Feels too "chemical" and I would prefer a real spice/ingredient. I didn't say it had to have absolutely zero influence on flavor or saltyness, just wanted to make clear I didn't want a recommendation that would significantly alter what I've got regarding those aspects. I guess that subtelty was lost on you. I suppose I could drink 100% pure ethanol to get a buzz, but beer or bourbon or some other spirit sure sounds like a better way to go about it.
I really like the flavor/saltyness I'm getting from my boil mix. At this point I'm just looking for something that to add to increase "spicyness" without affecting saltyness or flavor (or at least minimally affecting those).

What's a good ingredient to do that? I've given up on Cayenne, there's already so much in there and it just feels like I'll end up with a retarded amount of sediment on everything to get that spice level that burns your lips (if it doesn't hurt a little, it's not spicy enough, IMO). Pure CAP or whatever that shite that comes with a dropper is out too, I don't want that in my boil.

So... Any recommendations?
I remember hearing something about a portion of them getting moved for this year. Anyone know which sections are visitor seats for 2014?
you can see the concern creeping into Tebow... worried he'll look dumb after that phone call gesture he did on a TD in the first half.
BOOM! TD Byrd 4th down from about the 5. 24-20 Florida 10:40 left in the 4th.

this game will never get old.

He did that so that you would have a thread to make about it 5 years later

nah, this was 2007, the height of his Tebow infatuation, way too distracted by that.

endzone, either one is first choice. I'd have to think a bit harder about something in either of the upper decks.
I have season tix on the east sideline and I'm not into paying the tradition fee on those this year. It seems the instructions to upgrade season tickets is to first renew them (meaning pay the tradition fee) along with a request to move. How does that work if you're wanting to move somewhere with a lower tradition fee?
Decided to look at my account on TAF and noticed for the first time that there are two "areas" of points; one being "priority points" and the other being "philanthropic points". There's also a ranking associated with each.

Why the difference? Do they count for different things?

Are tickets based only on priority points?

Do I get into heaven or a lesser circle of hell before other TAF members with a lower philanthropic point total (I need to get on this)?
currently living in the Manayunk area. Don't know about any groups that get together to watch though.
To me, and what seems like a majority of other Tiger fans, Miles showing up to Omaha was great thing to see. I know some rantards will give some differing opinion on this but I think a large majority of us liked it. While I know the games were back to back, I think it was cool that he didn't just pop in for one game and leave. Let's face it, if he really didn't want to be there he could have hopped on a private jet back to BR anytime he wanted so it's not like a situation where "he may as well go to game 3 while he's there". Also, I think he goes whether or not two football players are on the team or not. In any case, it doesn't matter now, he went and showed support and ESPN frequently gave air time to this fact.

Did Mack Brown not go? Unless I got up to take a piss every time they showed him in the stands then as far as I know, he didn't. Even game 3, I would have thought he may have seen/heard that Miles went and would feel obligated to go for the final game. Any word on Brown being there or if UT fans cared or not whether he didn't go?

Well, for one thing you are forgetting the Rose Bowl.

Nope, the Rose Bowl has two conference tie-ins. The only time they select an at-large team is if a Big10 or Pac10 team is playing in the NC game. Any bowl "losing" a team to the NC game automatically picks an at-large team first (or second if the associated team is ranked #2) before proceeding to the normal order. If the Rose Bowl loses both their PAC10 team and their Big10 team then they get the first 2 at-large picks before proceeding with the rotation. That is why the RB is not a part of the rotation. This was one of the key concessions by the other conferences to get the Rose/PAC10/Big10 on board with the formation of the BCS.
Why does the Sugar have the last spot to pick an at-large team this coming year? What am I missing here?

From The Fox BCS selection rules site:

January 2007 games: Sugar, Orange, Fiesta
January 2008 games: Orange, Fiesta, Sugar
January 2009 games: Fiesta, Sugar, Orange
January 2010 games: Orange, Fiesta, Sugar

Why would the Sugar move to the back of the line again for the 2010 game? Shouldn't it be Sugar, Orange, Fiesta?

So this is kinda random, but it's been weighing on my mind heavily, how bad was it for Katrina here in Baton Rouge? I mean should I leave my next to campus apartment and head home to the Lafayette/Lake Charles area or no? I mean if it wasn't bad and the power outage wasn't long, does it pay for me to try and fight traffic?

I can't say what BR was like during K but going back to Lake Charles for anything other than battening down the hatches sounds like a bad idea. If it goes west BR is a better place to be than LC. BR would also likely be a better place to be than Lafayette. But definitely take care of people and property in those areas if you need to, but maybe don't ride it out there if it's headed west like that. I can tell you from experience that you'll never forgive yourself if you do have the chance to help a relative save their home and you don't and it gets destroyed.

while i agree we shouldn't panic. Leadership doesn't have the luxury of pretending that this might not hit. People don't take you serious when you screw around and act like it isn't a big deal.

Being overly cautious is the way to go. Waiting until Friday may be too late for some people. They might feel like they don't have time. They might become anxious. They might feel like they can't get to their uncle's house 18 hours away, so they'll just stay home...etc.etc.etc.

We are finally going about it the right way. Let's hope we continue this trend for the next few days.

couldn't agree more with these sentiments. Maybe your better with words but this is exactly how I feel. Katrina essentially ruined me for over a year. Lost everything, my community, neighbors, most of what I knew to be my city, all the things I had wanted to do and aspired to be 1 year out of college. I was ruined watching my family members hurt and feeling a sense that not even the most optimistic people I knew nor a single civic leader could ever give me any hope. I began to drink just to deal with the pain on a daily basis. Now that I've nearly turned the corner on all that (I have optimism for N.O., La, and the whole gulf coast, I've seen some good strides in rebuilding, most of my relatives are now back to a normal life... and I was finally getting used to feeling good again) then we have this hanging over our heads.

Maybe it's a Louisiana thing, maybe an N.O. thing but I just feel we have more to lose than anyone else on the gulf coast at this point and playing it safe and being called a fool is better than acting like it's pre-August 2005 and ending up a fool.
Oh noez!!! Thundersticks! We'd be doomed!

Catman, I spend half my week in Biloxi. I see a fraction of the amount of people along the coast in MS as there were prior to Katrina. Stennis is freakin before bay st. louis for christ sake. Evacuating a peninsula (which is essentially what SE La is) with more people is definitely a different situation than evacuating the sparsely populated MS coast. I won't argue you weather knowledge but you are off point on the differences b/w MS and SE La.

have you seen the MS gulf coast? It looks like Katrina hit just a few months ago. There's hardly anyone there. Evacuating the MS Gulf Coast and SE La are two different things.

QUESTION: Since we know from Katrina that the levees most prone to fail are the narrow ones that line the canals, is the plan for a future storm, such as Gus, to close off the entrance to the canals at the lake? Didn't they install doors on the canals that could close them off from the lake. I realize this would mean no pumping of rain water during that time but it seems that water from rain is much more desirable than Lake New Orleans part 2. Anyone know what the plans are with regard to this?

just a thought for those that are still more concerned about football. A direct hit would send Louisiana high school talent all across the southeast either missing their senior years of football or finishing up in a different state. We'd essentially lose a huge portion of our recruiting grounds to our neighboring states. Also, current OOS recruits would probably have their choice affected when momma says "I'm not sending you to that cursed state that gets hit by those hurricanes". It would be a mess all around and hurt the future of the program for many years. So I think the hoping for the total avoidance of Gustav is more important than this one game.

definitely feeling more stress now that those projections are reaching a little bit of a consensus. What did we do to deserve this shite? Seriously, this is the very last fricking thing we need right now... Mexico or Tejas could use a good rain shower, not us.

oh damn... that shite looks to be coming right up our pee-hole. frick. Here we go again. At this point I could give a shite whether we play this weekend. I would gladly wait a week for football to start than take direct hit from this thing.

I don't think there is much the government can do to "shoo it away". I think what the previous poster meant is that the government is going to be very proactive in getting information to people and ordering evacuations with plenty of time to spare if need be (which is why it could affect the game).

of course... I still wouldn't trust the government to be very proactive or reactive. All we have to go on is past experience and we've all seen how it's been. Can you imagine how fricking stupid every politician from the local to the national level will look if we have another complete civil meltdown just years after supposedly learning the lessons of Katrina?! I'd think the backlash would be magnitudes worse than for Katrina.

seriously? You're willing to actually trust the government to protect/help you? Good luck man, you've got some faith. I really can't think of one thing I'd want to do less than trust the government on this. They did a bang up job last time right? I'll wait to see if they ever do anything right before putting my life/property on the line.
There's an awesome picture I've seen somewhere that shows Hester at the bottom of a pile, torso in the endzone, and he's holding out the ball and seems to be looking at the camera. Anyone have it?
